It would be cute if the band struck up "76 Trombones". Of course, these kids have probably never heard of it.

As ****ty as this is, I don't know that you can hang the poor defensive performances on his doorstep. We had new starters across the board on the D-line this year and Cosgrove hasn't done too well from what I can recall.

Purify is a beast. Ganz, apart from a couple bad picks, did as well as could be hoped for his first start against a good defense and having to throw every ****ing play. I'm looking forward to seeing him next year.

In other news, lets play a little game how many point will we give up in the next two weeks? I'm going with a very low 42 against KSUck, and somewhere around 150 to Colorado.

I do need to give some credit to KU. We do have the worst defense in the nation, but Reesing was hitting his guys on the numbers all day, and making the smart decision every time. Mangino has done a hell of a job there, taking a team with almost no 4 star recruits, and building a contender. Enjoy this KU fans, you built this team the right way and you have earned this season.

Im no college fan but since every one every week keeps asking me about KU I started to watch.

Skeptical at first, Im sold these guys are going to win the Big 12. I am also starting to like their chances to run the table.

I doubt they get a chance to go to the Title game, but man these kids are good and only one player is a senior. They will be good next year too.

Was this a football or basketball game? Does it really matter cuz the score would be similar?

Yeah, it seems like every streak that points to Nebraska's tradition has been taken a torch to by Bill Callahan. From bowl appearances, to winning seasons, to losing to teams you used to abuse by record margins. When Callahan is gone, where do you even begin since every shred of tradition has gone up in smoke at the hands of Peterhan.

well, our tradition probably isn't as strong a selling point as it once was, but I think it still counts for a little when the recruits see all the (increasingly) old trophies. Our bigger strength is probably the fact we have some of if not the best football facilities in the nation, with the new Osborne center and indoor practice field. We have a very loyal and dedicated fan base (whose national presence means TV appearances) that packs the stadium every week. All these things will be there for a new coaching staff to build around. Four years of Cally (only two of them really that bad) isn't going to bury us. Years of sucking didn't kill OU, SC, etc. and I don't see Nebraska football falling off the map forever.

Thats all nice and all but Ive heard about how Callahan has taken down pictures of All Americans in their facilities and how he has also fired people who have worked in the program for years. It seems like Callahan was trying to erase the reminders of former greatness so he wouldnt feel as insecure.

Cosgrove is a joke. Our fate was sealed when he didn't take the Vikings LB coaching job. Cally is as good as gone. Which is as a recruiting point is too bad. I think he brought in some pretty good players.

So assuming that they do ditch Callahan...who would we be going after for a coach?

Nebraska has to be one of the Top 10 coaching jobs regardless what they are doing this year.....too much tradition to say otherwise. I wonder how much of this is the players giving up on Callahan like what happened in Oakland his last year.

Thats an interesting question. I hear Grobe from Wake Forest mentioned a lot. Maybe they should look at Sarkisian? Theres also always Bo Pellini.

that is true, but Osborne has since had the all-american pictures put back up, invited all former players who felt jilted to come to games for free, and talked employees who quit the athletic department because of Pederson into coming back. Most of this BS was Pederson, though Callahan went along with it well enough.

I'd honestly like to see Bo back here....our defense really could use him. Hell I know I'm dreaming but I'd love to have them both in some fashion.

Joe Glenn - Wyoming (grew up in Lincoln)

Jim Grobe - Wake Forest

Turner Gill - Buffalo

Paul Johnson - Navy

Brian Kelly - Cincinnati

Bo Pelini - LSU

Jim Leavitt - South Florida

Gary Patterson - TCU

Greg Schiano - Rutgers

Kevin Steele - Alabama

Or if we go for another coach with NFL ties...

Bobby Petrino - Atlanta

Bill Cower - ok.. not likely, but a guy can dream.

Monte Kiffen - Tampa Bay (Probably too old, but heard this rumor)

Paul Johnson - Navy: Seriously? I know they just beat Notre Dame...but if you want the wishbone back, then he is your man.

Brian Kelly - Cincinnati This guys offense is AMAZING. Came from C. Michigan

Bo Pelini - LSU: Don't know about this one.....the LSU job is his if Miles leaves, but will Miles leave?

Jim Leavitt - South Florida: Done a heck of a job this year, may need couple more years before really being a hot commodity.

Gary Patterson - TCU

Greg Schiano - Rutgers: Doubt he leaves Rutgers for Nebraska if he wouldn't leave for his alma mater the U.

Kevin Steele - Alabama

What about Jumbo Fisher, OC at Florida State and was OC at LSU?
Pat Hill-Fresno State
George O'Leary-C. Florida?
Ron Zook-Illinios?

If it were up to the Husker fan masses Pelini would be a shoo-in. I swear if I hear another "My neighbors wifes brother-in-law heard from his boss that Pelini was in Lincoln getting his cable hooked up" story I am going to scream.

I hope Monte Kiffin gets it. He's the best guy for the job. He's the guy who can restore the legacy of the Blackshirts and knows what it means to be one. It seems like the only thing people can knock the guy on is his age, like he can control that.
