Default Nuthin' But First-Rounders!

HEY! If Luther Ellis manages to crack the starting lineup, that would be FOUR FIRST ROUND PICKS starting on the D-line! Has that ever happened?

Cut Ellis? In favor of who, Monsanto Pope? I've got bad news for Pope fans . . . Monsanto is HISTORY! He brings very little to the table, anyway, and he barely saw the field these first 2 games.

Ellis, though, has been captain-ing their new nickel D-package with Chukwurah, Davis, Foxworth, DJ and Gold - but w/o Al Wilson. They're actually using Gold on WR's in this set, too - I saw it Saturday night! Watch close on the tube - when that set is in the game, Luther is calling the shots.

Coyer has not been shy about discussing this new defensive set, either. Every time during the off-season when everyone was frothing about the 3-4, he would respond, "not too much 3-4, really, but we do have a new nickel set we're working on." I think they were really REALLY bothered by that anemic pass rush last year, and this new defensive alignment will be a serious eye-opener.

Just like Palepoi and Fatafehi, Monsanto will be the sad casualty of the Browncos invasion, and T.Pryce's contract deal. The good news is, the team is better off.

Thats cool on the special nickel package and all, but I just want a rotation of the best players and an impact felt on opposing O's... dont really care what round.

Some people have unreasonable expectations of Ellis.

The guy is fragile and old now.

Let us move on.

Agreed...don't feel bad for him though. He's still got royalties from inventing the wheel.

He's only 32. Four years younger than Coleman and three years younger than Raylee.

He just looks old because he has ten kids - 5 of his own and 5 adopted.

Elliss is 32. Pryce is 30. Elliss is a 2 time pro bowler with 29 sacks to his credit from the DT position, including 2 last year in only 8 games, part time.

It's a big IF, I know, but IF he is healthy, he can be real value added to our DL. Don't give up on him yet. I'd sure rather have him on the roster than Pope.

And as long as I brought him up, would someone please help me understand why Pope should be on the roster? I'm not at all impressed with him. What am I missing?

If he's got 10 kids he's not 32. Nobody with 10 kids is 32...even if they are 32. Some paleontologists think he pre-dates the Cretacious period.

Could be a very useful rotator for Warren or Myers along with double D.

I have two good kids and they have aged my by 10 years.

He really does have ten. Five adopted. Ellis is a very solid citizen who will do well in whatever he does after football. I think he came from a big family. He is from Mancos, a little town about 25 miles from Durango.

It was "vs" on another thread...I argued pre-camp that D Davis had to much upside to cut for an old geezer and got into a long debate Alamo style with an army of nay sayers...now it's looking a lilttle more like some are seeing that, though it's to still to soon to tell if it's for real or not. I just want to see this D-Line get young, big and fast...as quick as possible.
