PLAYER OF THE WEEK: WR Ashley Lelie — Lelie has had a good camp, perhaps his best of his four-year career. Lelie, who had more than 1,000 yards last season, is trying to add more to his game. He wants to be more effective in the red zone and on intermediate routes, and coaches are impressed with how hard he prepared in the offseason.

"He's gotten tougher, mentally and physically," Broncos coach Mike Shanahan said. "He's hit the weight room. He's got to keep improving, he's not there yet, but I have seen him make some strides."

There is no question in my mind of how much potential courtney brown has if he stays healthy but I find it very difficult to be optomistic about him being around the entire season.

They do a nice job with how the rooks are doing on those USA today things.

CB Fabian Washington still has not made a major impression and the comment by the head coach tells the tale: "He's coming along." At Houston he was called for interference, but Turner insisted it looked like both defender and receiver were complicit... No. 2 pick Stanford Routt did better in his second game and had a good week of practice. He remains ahead of Washington, although he plays the left side, Washington the right... Pick 3-a, QB Andrew Walter, missed most of practice with a groin strain and did not play in Houston... Pick 3-b, LB Kirk Morrison, had a second solid game and his positioning on the depth chart improved with the season-ending injury to LB Sam Williams because LB Jay Foreman will now get time at Williams' position and less at Morrison's... Pick 6-a, DT Anttaj Hawthorne, had a sack against Houston and appears solidly in control of a roster spot... Pick 6-b, DE Ryan Riddle, had a big impact at Houston with a pair of quarterback pressures... Pick 7, T Pete McMahon, was elevated to the No. 2 squad at guard with mixed results.

When? I haven't seen him open in any games, yet.

But we haven't really game plan for him yet either. If he makes the team then Shanny and Kubes will figure out a way to get him involved in the O. He won't make the pro-bowl, but he might help Denver win one or two games this year.
