Default 8/18 ST's practice notes

1. Only worked on returns and coverages, no live action from any of the kickers.

2. They had Ernster and Sauerbrun simulate their Kickoffs in order to get the right timing to not be offside. The kickers approached the ball but did not strike it.

3. Ernster got so rattled by the pace at one point he forgot to put a ball on the tee and Shanahan yelled "Hey Paul you need a ball!" To which the whole team busted out laughing.

4. They did full contact, full speed for an Hour. By the end, they looked good all around.

5. My boy Paymah got the treatment for dogging it in this practice and every play after that he dominated his blocks.

6. Maurice is not talking to anyone. He sat to the side through the whole practice on one knee and stayed away from everyone. The withdrawn attitude reminds me of griese ALOT! He really is not in good standing with his teammates.

Which is probably one of many good indications of why you are here posting on the mane rather than participating in ANY football camp!!!

I'm about ready to say I was wrong about Clarrett and take my medicine. Seems I'm good for one wrong call every year. Last year was Tatum, the year before was IHOP, looks like MoC is my newest victim! The Broncos should have taken my advice last year and drafted Michael "the Burner" Turner. Then we wouldn't be having this conversation and we could have wasted that 3rd round pick on say an OLINEMAN!

i knew id get a comment like that, but tis true, i couldnt last on the football field. But you still could be wrong about MoC, he has been out of football 2 years, so i think shanny was expecting this to be a project.

I think now MoC has to get sent to the PS. We would be foolish to keep on the active roster when guys like Q and Dayne can play for us and have the love of the team. MoC isn't helping himself out at all by not talking with the team.

He has not made the special teams practices, so I doubt they would trust him with an assignment just yet.

what do you think is going to happen with him, Med? Despite his rustiness, he has alot of football upside. Cant get away with the IR this year, team's will call our bluff. Cant put him on the PS, he'll get picked up despite the fact that he is still raw. Seems to me that he will make the roster despite being out so long.

Thanks Med. Since Shanahan has been laying down the law and not allowing anyone to slack they have gotten much better. It helps that he pretty much runs the practices. Hopefully this will translate into better coverage down field in the games.

Im really upset by this. Im not going to give up on MoC but I thought we where through all this crap. We passed on Man Boobs, dammit. I'm pretty sure he was one of the higher rated guards in the draft. We could have used that planet that is a man to open holes for our other backs.

I read Man-Boobs was struggling in Arizona's minicamps although i havent seen anything on his performance in training camp.

Personally, I think they could have had Evan Mathis @ 76. However, PJ alexander had not gone "Winslow" at the time and the OG position was much deeper.

At least we got Karl "the Future" Paymah!

Well that might be but I can't say that MoC has given us much to be thankful for either. Now I know that hes been out of football and all that other jazz, the way that he is handling (from what I have read here) doesn't make me too happy. Cutting Q or Dayne now to keep him would really upset me. Its one thing to be down on yourself I can understand that, even more so with everything that he has been through but football teams are like a family and he just shut out his and I don't think the team likes it. I don't know SoCal maybe the rest of the players are tired of all the press he gets for not being able to practice while they bust their asses off, but I can tell you this for him to make the team after NOT being able to practice would really hurt Mikes ablility to coach this team. Hey guys, Maurice still has three games to go. The one thing that I do not like is his attitude. The quitter/victim/hero crap does not make friends. He needs to hang with the team and be a part of the chemistry instead of inhibiting it.

Yea something completely opposite of what the media would portray MoC as.

Trouble making, big mouthed, airheaded flava clown.

The guy is going through rough times. He can start bonding once he proves he can start playing. The guy needs time to think about what he is doing.

I agree, and i also agree that if MoC doesnt show any flashes during practice or a game and shanny keeps him, a lot of players will definitly be upset. But i know shanny will do the right thing and keep whoever is the better football player.

And Khan is right, Med i sdefinitely high on Paymah, but thats cool, caz i really like Fox. Thanks again Med.

That's a good perspective there DB. That's an angle that I am starting to get worried about too. It does seem fairly clear now from many reports we have recieved from several different avenues that his teammates arent liking him too much. Its a valid concern if they see him sitting out there and still making the team when some guys who worked really hard and made some plays just barely miss the cut. Some of the things that Rod was saying today made me a little uneasy in that regard.

I make NO excuses for my adopt a bronco. No one else would have known if Shanny had yelled at him during practice today. Khan had it right the other day that he seems to not get up to speed like the others on some plays. Others he is lights out. All the young guys are inconsistant, but better than expected at this point.

One thing is for sure, with Champ and Roc possibly out for SAT's game then they are going to get a ton of reps! Just what they need.

Agreed. I don't think I've been too hard on Paymah. He's just young and the other guys seemed to pick things up a little faster. He has all the tools he just needs to put it in his head, and he's catching up. He's showing progress too. He was the one of two guys who had interceptions yesterday with the other being Ferg, so he's coming along.

Med, what do you think is the status of the various bubble guys on the roster from what you observed the last few days.

I don't think he plays up to his 40 time speed and on reports they all say he can rather slow transitions.

Sounds like he'll get burned quite a few times this year.

I would hate for it to come down to well I could bust my ass but there going to keep Mikes pet MoC or worse yet he thinks he doesn't have to try because he is a high pick and Mike has to save face. Again Im not trying to make it sound like I'm a oh the worlds falling apart guy here but this has a chance to become really bad. Now Med pointed out that there are three games for him to earn his spot but right now I think he's off the roster till he proves other wise. I wish him the best and everything but damn it stop feeling sorry for yourself and make it happen.

Very true DB. Fox and Darrent are quicker, but Paymah still has another gear straight line. Each of the new CB's has different strengths and weaknesses, but are much better than worse. Paymah has much better press technique than the others though. He allows the least seperation off the line of all the CB's including Walls.

Walls is still raw in his press technique and I posted from this morning that the DB coaches were all over him about his Holding and improving his technique.
