Bowlen in court about kid's TV show - The Orange Mane

August 18, 2005 -- DENVER Broncos owner Pat Bowlen has been dragged back into court on charges he stole the idea for a children's TV show from a California school teacher. Diane Russomanno — who's already won a $54 million verdict against other defendants in the decade-old case — now wants $10 million from Bowlen, who, she claims, played a key role in the plot to pilfer her "Ricky Rocket" idea. Bowlen initially invested $100,000 in the project at the behest of his pal Gianni Russo, who acted as Russomanno's agent. But the duo then cut Russomanno out of the deal and sold a copycat version of the show to Fox called "A.J.'s Time Travelers." Bowlen heads the powerful NFL television committee, an influential position Russomano claims he leveraged to sell the disputed program. In 2000, a California lower court ruled Bowlen was merely a silent partner — but the California Court of Appeals recently reversed that and reinstated Bowlen as a defendant. Russomanno tells us: "When this first happened, I personally called Bowlen and pleaded with him not to [steal the idea] to no avail. I even recorded the conversation." A rep for Bowlen declined to comment.

I'm sure this is just a misunderstanding that can be settled with giving up a 3rd round pick and no admission of guilt.
