Dave Logan said Mike Shannan is the highest on believe it or not Karl Paymah. He thinks with his size and speed, he can be very special. Interesting.
All 3 corners have played exceptionally well tonight. We have finally found some corners. All the years we have struggled to find one, how funny would it be to have all 3 rookies become finds. Williams has been outstanding on returns and coverage. WOW! |

Paymah may have the most upside, but right now, tonight Darrent is outplaying all of the rooks.

From listening to KOA and what they showed on NFL Network, it looks like Foxworth had a nice night.

I saw Paymah makes some plays to. Actually it sounds from like they all played well. Good news for the Broncos, but I bet Mark Kiszla or that fat a** from ESPN will not be happy campers. |

I love all three, but FOX is my favorite.
But I do think that picking Paymah made Middlebrooks expendable, or he was chosen to REPLACE Willie. They made that pick so they could trade or release Willie. Shanahan likes those big, physical Corners that can run. Paymah definitely seems to fit that bill. As far as Willie goes, the injuries just finally took their toll. You just can't miss 2 successive playoff games because of injuries in back to back seasons, in which your team gets blown out and expect to still be on the team. The team needs player they can depend on. Not only on a good, solid and consistant performance, but JUST TO BE IN THE GAME. I think all three of our Rookie CBs are going to be players the Denver Broncos can depend on for not only a solid performance, but to be there when it counts. |

Foxworth is still my favorite just because of how he plays. He's smart. Nonetheless all three looked good tonight and it can only go uphill from here for those guys. ...and thank goodness LeSeur is ok. |

Williams made a kick ass open field tackle that was reminiscent of something Al Wilson would have done. Paymah I noticed less of, but I did see him on a couple of defensed passes. Browner was equally impressive, if not thugish at times. He was johnny on the spot on a deep pass that Kennedy, Lynch and Ferguson all would have been beat on (over safety help for the CB, good coverage by CB I think Paymah anyway but Browner made a great play). Williams two good chances at a return were worth the watch and once we get the blocking on kick returns down I think we got ourselves a field position guy who can cover and tackle. Im sold. Foxworth did make two boneheaded plays in a row but rookie mistakes are going to happen. Overall, we still have the same problems as last year though. |

I like them in this order:
1. Williams 2. Foxworth 3. Paymah Wasn't the rep on Paymah coming out that he got beat too often? Almost like a watered-down Champ. |

I'm totally slayed every time by Khan. I can't even remember what I was going to say I laughed so hard. I started trying to remember the exact moment this photo was taken. I think it is when he has Kirk on the surface stranded but wants to make the Enterprise suffer. Kirk appeals to his instinct and he loses his focus despite his sons pleas. No sure tho. Since Khan is now in Hell's Perdition, he would have a better analysis than I. BTW, I just gave Beeslebub a can of tuna, and he's pacified. I snuck a bite, but he hogged most of it. "IF YOU WANT ME KHAN, YOU HAVE TO COME DOWN AND GET ME YOU BASTARD...KHAAAAAAANNNNN...." |

NOTES
Williams became the first rookie cornerback to start a preseason opener in the Shanahan era. Alexander caught his first touchdown pass as a Bronco with 13:21 remaining in the second quarter. Rice made his first reception as a Bronco with 1:55 remaining in the second quarter. The six-yard completion set up third-and-two from the Texans 44-yard line. The Broncos averaged 5.2 yards per carry in the first half, thanks in large part to a 40-yard scramble by Van Pelt. Van Pelt played in just one series last preseason. He surpassed that number in the first half against Houston. Van Pelt led Denver's quarterbacks with 107 passing yards, completing 10 of 17 passes. Plummer and Mauck each threw touchdown passes. Plummer went 6-10 for 76 yards and Mauck went 2-3 for 96 yards. Ron Dayne led Broncos rushers with 56 yards on 11 carries with a long of 23. Van Pelt also scrambled for 45 yards on three runs, one of which was a 40-yard effort. Todd Devoe led the team's receivers with his 92 yards from his touchdown reception. charlie Adams also added 43 yards on three receptions. Todd Sauerbrun punted six times for a 40.2 average and a long of 46. Darrent Williams returned two kickoffs with a 25-yard average and a long of 26. He also brought back four punts for 10 yards with a long of 14 and one fair catch. |

I was happy with the CB situation right after the draft. Yes. We needed all three. Yes. All three are going to hit.
No. It's not the same situation as last year. The DL is going to allow us to spread things out and attack with different looks. It sounds like we have competition at Safety which is a good thing. No loss of step commentary about Lynch is a good thing. |

So far, so good, no major injuries, Leseuer was carted off but is ok I think.
Sounds like all our green corners are playing fairly well. If D. Williams is surrounded I want him to just catch the damn ball. He did. Where in the hell is the blocking? We had a block on every time? This is getting rediculous. If the guy is around 4 guys when he takes the ball he snags it. He should of fair catched, but it shows balls he didn't. Still, he will learn that. I'm sure he wanted to take off each time. Being over agressive I will take over being lazy. I didn't see video tonight, but I guess all 4 of our new secondary played pretty well all things considered. I missed some of the audio, but it seemed like Denver was controling the line of scrimmage but was still having problems in the red zone. I think BVD and Devo will certainly be here for a few more weeks. BVD seems to be kinda marching along, and still has upside. We keep working with him and see where it leads, if he can keep developing. You can't dismiss Devo's huge play, but you can't read too much into it either. Still, if it comes to him or Rice,I dunno, mock might just go with the kid if he has another good showing. |

So Med I bet your thrilled about Shanny's comments on your boy. It seemed like he made some plays as well.

The first TD to TE Murphy had Al Wilson and somebody else (couldn't see who) in coverage. Wilson was beat but just barely and could have made a play w/better ball awareness. Really it was a nice play by Carr and Murphy. The second one had a glut of Broncos in the corner/sideline of the endzone. I don't remember who all was there (about three of them!) but it was another one of those plays that the WR just made (got lucky actually). Honestly, it probably could have come back if Shanny had challenged b/c I'm not sure he ever secured the ball before he went out of bounds. |

man if we hit on all 3 + Browner all the years of suffering through shoddy CB's with the brain of a goldfish will be worth it
but what happens to Roc in that case? Shoate i think might be gone but not sure |

BTW, Mike Leach was the first guy on the scene on almost every punt. And Den had a lot of punts. Houston didn't punt until the second quarter. |
