Default Madden cover jinx lives on

Ever since madden started putting players on the cover of its game that player or that players team has suffered. I can't rember the first few years but the year marshal faulk made it to the cover (03) he got injured and has never been the same. In madden 04 mike vick (aka ron mexico) made it to the cover and broke his leg in the preseason. last year with ray lewis on the cover ed reed took over as the superstar on defense and the ravens missed the playoffs. This year with mcnabb on the cover he will suffer with a lack of recieving targets (t.o. holding out, fred-ex going to the chefs, and todd "alligator hands" pinkstion rupturing his achilles) its unlikley the eagles will make it past the first round of the playoffs if the even make it that far (if they did it would be because of westbrook and their defense)

I wonder how bad KC would be if they put DJ or someone else on the cover

McNabb is the MVP of the team. Westbrook and the defense may have to play great to make the playoffs, but McNabb has to be McNabb. He took four teams to the NFC Championship game with receivers like Mitchell, Thrash, and Pinkston. He just needs three guys that catch 40 balls for about 500 yards each. The running backs and TEs will pick up the slack in the passing game. At least they went undefeated without TO last year.

Another reason ESPN was better. ESPN had Owens on the cover and while he did get injured, he had one of his best seasons ever.

I call BS on this one. The TO problem was bound to happen, and Freddie was already gone, like that matters anyways.

Nothing bad happened to Lewis last year.

I don't know where ESPN got their info from on Culpepper. The past two years he was rated at 96 and 110. The year he was on the Madden cover, he was rated at 75. He's the second highest rated QB of all time.

Um... ray ray got hurt for the end of the season when they needed wins to make a wild-card.

He only missed Baltimore's final game vs. the Dolphins. The Ravens won that game vs. lowly Miami anyway and needed help from Denver, Pittsburgh and Oakland to get into the playoffs, which they didn't receive.

There is no Madden Jinx or Curse. The case for Culpepper if flimsy and it's even flimsier for Ray Lewis and Donovan McNabb.

Lewis was voted to the Pro Bowl and he was voted to the AP All-Pro team. Sounds like he had a good year to me.

Breck you are on top of it!

Even though the Rams fell apart in 2002 when Faulk was on the cover, Marshall earned his fifth straight trip to the Pro Bowl and was still on top of his game. In 2002, Faulk joined Jim Brown, Earl Campbell and O.J. Simpson as the only running backs in NFL history to rush for 150 yards in three consecutive games.

Lewis didn't suffer from the jionz he suffered from a terrible QB.
