Default for the CU Alumni:

QB Van Pelt takes step up with Broncos

Colorado football fans had better hurry up and decide.

The way Bradlee Van Pelt is moving up the quarterback charts, CU Buffaloes boosters will be confronted with the ultimate dilemma: Does the love of the NFL home team Broncos supersede the collegiate dislike for the Colorado State Rams?

Only the gradual rise of the swashbuckling Van Pelt can elicit such a mental and emotional conundrum. In what may be the most surprising depth-chart shake-up in the early days of Broncos training camp, Van Pelt took all the snaps with the second-team offensive unit Tuesday......

I'm a CU alum and I wish BVP nothing but the best. He's a Bronco now, and that's all that matters.

I'm a University of Arizona alum and watched Snake destroy my Wildcats several times. Infact when I ran into Jake last year at the Shanny show he was giving me **** about being a UofA fan.

The ASU vs UofA hatred runs deeper than CSU vs CU IMO.

Once someone dawns the Orange and Blue I can't see how you could still hate on the guy based on what college he went to.

Keep assuming it's because of the college. It's because he's a punk. It's the same reason I don't want players like Maurice Clarrett on my team. It's the same reason that I don't want Carswell back (although Carswell is a criminal, and therefore a higher level of punk than Clarett and BVP).

I remember when the team was full of high character guys. Those days are gone.

I agree except the part about BVP being as big a punk as MoC... I hated the MoC pick too for the same reasons, but what did BVP do that even compares?

Tell you what drive on down to training camp and make your decision then. I agree. Could you elaborate on BVP being a punk?

Spoken like a true gentleman and proud CU alum. I'm a CSU alum and my brother is a CU alum but we are both Broncos fans. BVP doing well is great for the Broncos and that is all that matters.

I had no problem pulling for Mike Croel or Kenny Walker or any of the other Cornhuskers who played for the Broncos, and Nebraska has always been a far bigger rival of CU than CSU has ever been.

Here's hoping that BVP has a better career than Kenny or Mike.

Mike Croel, what a huge disappointment. I was PO'd the Broncos drafted him, mainly because he was a Fusker. But then, I started warming up to him... but he ended up sucking anyway.

Truth of the matter is that the Fuskers program, under Osborne, was just not a good program for potential NFL players. I think CU, over the years, has produced more quality NFL players than NU has (although I don't have the stats), yet NU has way more championships.

Respect to all the CU peeps who can see past our rivalry and wish the guy well (although I can't think of a single CSU fan who hates the Buffs as vehemently as I've seen from some on this board).

Now, should I get the white #11 jersey or the alternate orange?

BVP's a punk, that's why I don't like him. It doesn't matter what school he went to, and I'm not going to change my feelings simply because he's a Bronco. FTR the only other pro athletes I dislike are Clarett and Ray Ray. My feelings on Mo C aren't going to change either.

CU is the Better School.

BVP used to get on my nerves, But he's a Bronco Now. I back him 100% now. I hope he Kicks Arse, and he gets good enough to really press Plummer. We need somebody to put pressure on Plummer, so there are no more excuses...

I have a problem with people who scream that they deserve respect for one reason or another. If you deserve respect, people will give it to you without you telling everyone why you should be given it.

My problems with BVP are:

The "spike" he had after scoring against CU in '02 when he turned around and gunned the ball at a CU defender's head after going into the endzone. Complete class by BVP.

I have a minor problem with him calling 950 from the locker room after that same game that leads to my main problem with him. People want to interview you? Fine. Don't make the effort to call a radio station to toot your own horn. Only really an issue with me because of what happened the next year. Leading up to his final CU game, he kept telling everyone how he had no respect for CU and they didn't deserve any, but then complained about how CU didn't have any respect for him or CSU (see my first comment in this post). He also made claims about CSU being good enough to go to a BCS game. Another, "fine" comment from me. However, when you lose to CU and then try to sneak onto the CSU bus without talking to the press after you called 950 last year from the locker room when you won, and all your "lack of respect" talk this year, is what puts BVP in the punk category for me. Run your mouth all you want, but if you're wrong, man up to what you said and admit you were wrong. Slinking away like a chicken-**** is complete BS. His BCS talk kind of went by the wayside too afterwards, but he never got called on that either.

I don't like the guy because he ran his mouth and then ran away when he was wrong. I'd actually respect him if he stood his ground and took his lumps afterwards.

It started when he kicked some sand in CU's face after the Rams finally managed to beat them, stating that they were the weakest 6th-ranked team he'd ever seen, or something like that. He also made some comments about bad play-calling shortly after that, when CSU got beat by some west-coast team. Lubick told him to put a lid on it, and he shut up for awhile, but the Bulletin board damage was already done.

Really, it's not that big of a deal.

Thanks Herc. Like I said I rarely pay attention to CSU or CU ball. I'm still a Pac-10 fan from living in AZ for so long. Well Im not going to defend his actions as a college player but he is performing at camp so far. We'll see what happens today.

I am a CU Alum. CU folk don't like him because of Bradlee's smack talk about CU and the incident where he threw the ball down on a CU defender after scoring a touchdown.

if that's the reason, then cry me a F'n river....

that can't be the reason he's compared to a cheating, backstabing RB, and an accused murderer?
