Default "Invesco Field at Mile High" for one more year

Invesco Field at Mile High apparently will keep its name for at least another year.

London money management giant Amvescap Plc made a $2.39 million naming rights payment on schedule Monday, said Matt Sugar, a former spokesman for the Metropolitan Football Stadium District........

So Invesco no longer exists but their stadium naming rights live on? Why even bother to drop the $2.39 Million?

No wonder the company is jacked up. They obviously don't manage their money very well.

Probably because Bowlen can sue them if they pull out now. A contract is a contract and Invesco is a subsidiary of a larger company. This allows Bowlen time to find another company to assume the naming rights.

IMHO, it should be called "Pathetic Mutual Funds paying for recognition @ Mile High" until further notice

Buying naming rights to a stadium seems to be the "kiss of death" to a company.

Lets all chip in our money and name it Orange Mane Field at Mile High. This board would get a ton of hits, and make a boat load of money off of advertisments. We could all be rich. Man, this idea is solid gold. I'll get on the phone and set this up.

I think the stadium in Miami is still called Pro Player Stadium....and they went out of business years ago. Regardless if it's still called that....it was call Pro Player for years afterward.

Doesn't matter. Then someone else would step in trying to appease their corporate ego. Which is all it boils down to. Stupidity.

Be like the ball park in Houston. It went from the infamous Enron Field to the ridiculous Minute Maid Park (with horrible references to "squeeze plays").

Why don't they just name them singularly - Greedy Bastid Field - Denver. Greedy Bastid Field - Miami. Greedy Bastid Field - Philadelphia. And so on...

I don't know what they filed. I think Chapter 11 is total liquidation of all assets and the company itself is dissolved.

However, being that is/was owned by a parent company, that company should assume all debts, along with the assets.

.....and I thought the $500-$1,000 my alma mater is charging to have a plaque with one's name on it placed on one of the seats in the new football stadium was steep!

my point was that if they filed for any kind of bankruptcy, they would be legally protected from their creditors (Pat Bowlen, Taxpayers)

No they were simply purchased by AIM funds which is owned by the company mentioned in the first post.

You are correct, but I think they are still responsible for paying their creditors, and I think the courts determine who gets paid what, so it may be the courts who said something along the lines of "...since the name Invesco Field is on the Denver Bronco's stadium, the company is obligated to pay the Bronco's for those rights, until the Broncos find another source to assume the name...." something along those lines.

Who knows?
