Default Dan Neil?

Any speculation about what Dan Neil's future might be? I know Burger Bill dismissed him as pretty much being gone forever from the Broncos:

Quote:
Why would we release Dan Neil? He missed a few games last year but has been a rock on the offensive line for years now.
-- Jay Tracewell, Loveland, Colo.

Jay - The Broncos hated to do it, but it made sense financially and on the field, too. Neil was a great warrior, but he broke down last year. His release was not a surprise. When Cooper Carlisle took over in December, Neil's departure was a foregone conclusion. Still, he'll go down in the team's lore for his toughness on the field and for his class off it.
But is there any chance he might come back to Denver for reduced pay? I know the Patriots showed interest in him, but I guess that fizzled. With initail preseason reports looking like the oline might be a wee bit shaky, do you guys think there's any chance Shanny might bring him back?

I heard a radio show on the FAN up here and Mark Schlereth had mentioned he spent the better part of the afternoon helping Dan Neil move into a new house. Stink said that Neil is doing things right, he's rehabbing and making sure he's back in playing form. waiting for a deal that will undoubtably come AFTER preseason when injuries and roster moves are being made. Stink seemed to think that Dan will be in a football uniform for the 2005 season, whos, we don't know

Interesting indeed. Does Denver have the cap room/desire to sign him?

Did they both required surgery after the move?

Dan was all done. We would have to have disasters up and down the line, and I'm still not sure he would be resigned, or want to.

@Mock. I agree with you about Dan possibly not wanting to be signed (he was uncerimoniously dumped) but I still think he would help the line alot. He
  • Knows the stystem
  • Provides veteran leadership
  • and I think could still be a good rotational player

At any rate, I'd like to see the line get some additional(veteran) help.

I think Shanny wants to see how the young players on the Oline develop. My feeling is after a preseason game or two Shanny will decide on whether or not he will bring Neil back.
