I just bought a Kodak Easyshare Z730. We have an Easy share at work and it works pretty well.... Does anyone else have one? If so, do you like it?

Since you started it, I'd like to piggy-back on this thread if you don't mind Miss Sassy...
To those with Digi Cams, I wanted to invest in a good one, with one of those printer deals, the whole 9 yards... Are the quality of print outs good? If I got a good one, would I totally be able to abandon regular cameras? I want to be able to print out pictures... but not just on computer paper, obviously. |

I have a HP Photosmart Printer...that prints out pics very well... I would recommend that type of printer for pics...but I'm not sure that's what you want.

Is that one of those things, that is a free standing thing... Meaning, all it does is print photos and it's not your normal printer for everything else, right?

I have a two year old Nikon Coolpix 4300 that takes great pictures and an HP Photsmart Printer that makes prints as good as I get anyplace except the high end pro photo shops. I a sure there are smaller and better cameras out there. Friend has some monsterous Canon Digital SLR with interchangeable lenses that is amazing, but it is as big as the old SLRs

I have a Sony Cyber-Shot which is great, and as for printing I find it cheaper and easier to just send them to Costco. You can up load your photos on to the website and just go pick them up.

Steve's Digi-Cams is an excellent resource for researching digital cameras. I have a 4 megapixel Canon ELPH that I bought a couple years ago and I LOVE it. It's small enough to literally fit in the pocket of my jeans and be carried around comfortably, and at 4 megapixels you can have 35mm quality (or even better maybe?) up to 11x13. Most cameras sold today, even the point-and-click ones, are 5 megapixels or better. And, if you don't want to go the printer route (kind of expensive if you want to have lots of hard copies of the pictures you take) you can just take your memory card into your local drugstore or whatever and they can make Kodak prints for you that are indistinguishable from regular film. So yeah, a digi cam will make you totally forget 35mm.

Agreed, i work in a photo center, and seeing as the prints look exactly the same as film, or better, it is way better to have a dig camera these days. Film can get destroyed in our machines, ive done it all to often, and with the cards, just stick them in the machine or send them over the internet. Way easier and safer.! ![]() |

We just also bought a kodak dx-7590 with printer dock from comp usa. This camera is amazing 5.0 mp and 10x optical zoom. The best part was the price at $300 out the door. It was a demo model and the kid that sold it to us just kept adding stuff. I'm a bargain hunter and this one of the better ones yet. Oh yeah and Go Broncos!!!!

Oh yeah, that's a good point. Make sure you get a camera with a good OPTICAL zoom. 3x is okay, 10x is awesome. Digital zoom is ****.

Canon is the way to go. I would like to get a Digital Rebel or a 20D. (SLR's)
Back when I was going to School for Photography, I was a Canon and Fuji Film guy. I stay away from Kodak. (but, obviously, some people like 'em) On a sidenote, Kodak got its name because that was the actual sound the Early Eastman Cameras made, Kod-AK. I think it was a Brownie (but not sure). |

If you don't need more than a point-and-shoot usage from your camera, then you don't need any more than four megapixels. I just bought a Canon SD300 and it's fairly fantastic. There are plenty of good digitals out there, it just depends on what you want.

I have a smaller Canon. My dad has that Canon SLX I believe and he has a Sony just like it. I like mine just fine. It does what I want it to.

Digital cameras are great but you really need to archive the pictures on a cd. I'm sure alot of people are going to be sad when they find their pictures are permanently lost.
I print my pics on a Epson 1280 on Red River Paper. Not too bad. Or sometimes I go to a house like A&I in Los Angeles or BWC here in dallas for photographic prints. All on-line you just need broadband. Currently I use a Canon 10D as well as a high end Digital Back on a Sinar. I would agree that the Canon series is a nice way to go. Something like the PS G6 is small lightweight and you can shoot RAW. It's amazing how things have changed. Only 4 years ago I was using 4x5, 8x10, MF and some 35mm. I think I shot maybe 20 sheets of 4x5 this year. The rest was all digital. |

I picked this one up at best buy for $250 after ($50 rebate, $15 off - online sale)
http://www.steves-digicams.com/2004_...uji_s5100.html 4 mp, 10x optical zoom.... 4 or more megapixels is plenty and more than 5 can be too much depending on the size/type of digital camera. steves is an excellent camera site....a good article to start your research: http://www.steves-digicams.com/techc...July_2004.html |

I tried really hard to justify that cam to myself...but as it is just a hobby I settled for the Rebel XT. I shoot in RAW though and have just as much fun with the end of the digital workflow as I do with the beginning. I have a Cannon PIXMA IP3000 for printing. It is a great little all-in-one printer that does photos well...and it is only $70. Last edited by delany; 07-28-2005 at 11:30 PM.. |

I bought a Nikon D70 late last year, and have used my film camera once since. The downside is that I have a squillion more photos to sort through and delete (not that I do) when I clear the card.
If you like the flexibility that SLR's give you then I'd definently recommend the D70. |

The Rebel XT is a great camera, 8mp plus it's small and light and can take the entire line of Canon Eos lenses plus EFS. I use prime lenses myself (speed and sharpness) but i've heard good things about the 10-22 EF-S lens. |
