Susie Wargin catches up with Buckeye and Bronco great Randy Gradishar
http://www.9news.com/acm_news.aspx?O...2-a9383dc2f691 Click here to watch the video Woody Hayes called Randy Gradishar "the best linebacker I ever coached at Ohio State". That's a huge compliment from the legendary OSU coach, but Gradishar's accolades and accomplishments go much farther than that. A native of Ohio, Gradishar stayed in state and was a 3 year starter for the Buckeyes. He was All American and All Academic American his senior year and graduated with a degree in Distributive Education. In 1974, Gradishar was picked by the Broncos in the first round and he didn't disappoint. He played in 145 straight games, forced 33 turnovers, was a 7-time Pro Bowler and was Defensive player of the year in 1978 and team Defensive MVP in 78 & 80. He also still holds the franchise record for tackles (2,049) and was among 15 finalists for the Pro Football Hall Of Fame balloting in 2003. So what's Randy up to these days? He works for Phil Long dealerships, but he's not selling cars. Rather, he's "selling" goals, values and a commitment to the community to over 1400 employees. If anyone knows about creating, maintaining and achieving excellence, it's Gradishar. Susie will talk with former Bronco Steve Watson Tuesday and Karl Meclenburg Wednesday. |

Thanks for that!!
Near the end they show a picture of Randy with his left hand on Bob Swenson's shoulder, with Tom Jackson and Joe Rizzo there as well. One of the coolest pictures ever. I would give decent dinero to get a hold of that picture. |

Anyone ever heard of "degree in Distributive Education"? If so any idea what it is?
Thanks |

Gradishar is not only the best LB that Woody Hayes coached, Gradishar is the best LB ever at the Ohio State Univerisity.
Coming in a decently close 2nd would be Chris Spielman, but Gradishar is heads above him as a Buckeye great, I'm just upset that I never got to see him play for the scarlet and gray in my lifetime(seen some Buckeye games from the 70's that my dad has taped over the years, but it's just not the same as seeing it live.) |
