All Broncos picks expected in fold
General manager confident rookies will be at camp By Jeff Legwold, Rocky Mountain News July 23, 2005 With only six days remaining until the Denver Broncos report to training camp Thursday, team officials are confident their draft class will be signed and in camp on time when they open the doors to their Dove Valley complex. "I foresee no reason why that wouldn't be," general manager Ted Sundquist said. Advertisement The Broncos have two of their six picks signed in what has been a slow marketplace leaguewide thus far. When he signed his deal with Denver on Friday morning, Domonique Foxworth became only the sixth player chosen in the first three rounds of the April draft to finish a contract. "It's been a little slow out there, but I've dealt with the Broncos for a number of years and we just wanted to sit down and get it done," said Foxworth's representative, Brian Mackler, who also represented John Mobley in his time with the Broncos. "I'm thankful they wanted to make a deal, too."

Last season, linebacker D.J. Williams, the team's first-round pick, missed an early training camp practice as his deal was finalized, and running back Tatum Bell, the second-round pick, missed much of the first week as his contract was completed.
Foxworth, a former Maryland cornerback, was one of three third-round picks - he was the 97th player selected overall - for the Broncos. He agreed to a three-year deal with a $429,000 signing bonus to go with minimum base salaries of $230,000 this season, $310,000 in '06 and $385,000 in '07. The Broncos signed kicker Paul Ernster, their seventh-round pick, earlier this month. The Broncos have four players still to sign, including their two other third-round selections - running back Maurice Clarett and cornerback Karl Paymah. The Broncos have traded proposals with each of their unsigned draft picks in recent days. With most teams set to open camp, this week should bring a flurry of signings leaguewide. No first-round draft picks have signed deals, and most of the 88 or so contracts that have been completed are for fifth- sixth- and seventh-round picks. The Broncos, who can bring 87 players to camp, will have to trim their roster as all of the draft picks sign. They have 90 players on their roster but also are carrying five kickers. Two of those kickers, Jeff Crowell and Tyler Fredrickson, were signed early in the off-season to be available to kick in mini-camp workouts. legwoldj@RockyMountainNews

I'm suprised Clarrett hasn't worked out a deal yet. He and his agent have said that money is not as important as being on the field.

If memory serves me right, Denver usually announces multiple signings right before camp. I don't know why this always happens so close to camp, but it does. I wouldn't worry about it, we don't even have to sign a first rounder, the only one that might raise some stink would be our second rounder.

We've been hearing nothing but good news about Foxworth and now that he's been signed already suggests more good news to come.
