It was a great trip, but my wife was at a Stampin' Up convention in Salt Lake City, so she got the digital camera...
But all in all, what a wonderful time... We went hiking through the Goat Rocks Wilderness. We got rained out the second day, which was the day we were supposed to backpack over the ridge. Instead of packing up and making the trip in the rain, we hung out in camp there an extra day and made the best of it in our tents with our Athlon and Fantasy Football magazines.
The third day, we decided to make a different loop instead of backpacking over the ridge, figuring we take it easy and not try to bust ourselves up too much by going over the ridge and back in two consecutive days. Ridge crawls with 60+ pounds on your back can be taxing and because we lost a day to the rain, we didn't want to have to do it two days in a row. Instead, we found a good place to dump our packs and head up to the ridge without them just for the view.
One highlight was when a small steam plume escaped from Mt. St. Helens in the distance. Nothing major, but it was still cool. We got up to the utmost peak in the range called "Hawkeye Point" which provided us a 360 degree panorama of the state that is just beautiful!
I got a mean sunburn on my shoulders that is still stinging.
All in all, a very memorable trip!

Speaking of vacations, I'll be hosting my family as they fly in from Colorado this week and we are taking the Pacific Coast Highway tour from Malibu to Monterey. I am geeked! We will probably stop over at the Hearst Castle and hopefully spend some time over in Big Sur.
Hey, by the way, did you feel that 5.6 earthquake up in Montana yesterday TJ? I guess it was a pretty strong sucker and shook up an big area.
