Finished it Sun; the second best of the series (behind book 4) IMO. Definately leaves you hanging at the end though, and I'm worried we won't see the 7th for awhile. If you haven't finished it yet, do yourself a favor and DON'T look at the chapter titles. They give away the ending.

I hope the twist is that Harry Potter gets impaled on a weather vane.

You are correct...they do give it away...and I pissed...I think that could have happened in the final book....but I'm not happy with the book. I do agree the 4th book is the best and might be impossible to top.

Im glad you guys said that. I just started the book last night and luckily didnt look at the TOC. I have to agree with you two that #4 was my favorite. So far far this one is good but who knows what I'll think at the end.

I got it for my dad Saturday. I do believe he finished it last night. I'll ask him how it was.

I've only read the spoiler. I've read the others first, and then read them to her. I'm reading the Order of the Phoenix to the kid, but had to put that on hold to help her do her summer reading. Weird books this year for beginning 5th grade. Princess and the Goblin, which is wonderful but written in 1870 by a Scot, so it's sentece structure is on like the 10th grade level with grammer that's .... foreign; CS Lewis A boy and his horse, which is impossible to grasp without an understanding of the historical conflict between christianity and islam; and a Wrinkle in Time ... which I look forward to.

What's gonna be funny, I think, is that with the Pope and the religious nutters in a twit over her use fo witchcraft and stuff, I think ultimately they'll be sort of a retelling of the Christ tale, ala CS Lewis.

I wasn't happy with this book at first either, but it has grown on me in the past 24 hours. Clearly, I've spent too much time thinking about HP and not enough time studying for the bar. Convenient excuse for when I have to retake the ****er in February. Anyway, without giving too much away, books 5 and 6 are, to me, the Empire Strikes Back of the series. They slow the plot way down and focus on character development (for example, all the Voldermort history), which is absolutely necessary to set up the finale. On the bright side, at least the whining, brooding Harry from book 5 is gone. I kinda like the wise-cracking, problem with authority HP that we have now
