Default Broncos in absolute disarray??

This is the latter part of an article from a Chiefs site (Fox Sports, Scout.Com, Chiefs Section) I thought it was kind of cute to say the least.

Yes, the first four games feature three playoff teams from last season, and the fourth, the Raiders, significantly improved the offense last season. The truth is the Jets, despite having a solid defense, will struggle to keep up with the Chiefs’ scoring machine. The Jets added solid wide receiver in Laveranues Coles to a receiving corps including the indomitable Wayne Chrebet. That aside, the main concern when facing the Jets is last year’s NFL rushing champion Curtis Martin. Stopping him will limit the Jets ability to run their play action, which fuels their passing game.

The Broncos are in absolute disarray. Rod Smith is aging, and the team is still waiting on Ashley Lelie to live up to his potential. With the addition of Kendrell Bell and Derrick Johnson, and the improvement of Keyaron Fox, the Chiefs’ have more than enough tools and speed available to stop quarterback Jake Plummer’s bootleg.

Last year’s NFC champion, the Eagles will also struggle to keep up with the Chiefs offense. Stopping the Eagles West Coast offense will be a task for the entire defense, not just one corner. The Eagles like to run and spread the ball around. The offense is also predicated on timing, so disrupting that timing of the offense becomes a key focus for the defensive line and linebackers.

People that are saying the Chiefs need Ty Law are sorely mistaken. Everyone knows that success in the first four games is vital to making a playoff push. The Chiefs and the fans realize that this is the best shot that Kansas City has had in years of reaching a Super Bowl. Naturally, tensions are high, considering this may be the one shot the Chiefs will have for some time.

However, common sense and good judgment must rule the day. The Chiefs can get through the first four games at 3-1 or even 2-2, and go into the bye week with a great chance of making a strong playoff run. Kansas City doesn’t need to do anything that will disrupt team chemistry or put them in salary cap hell. If Ty Law can be had at a reasonable price and he’s fine to start the season, pull the trigger. If the Chiefs’ front office doesn’t feel good in any way about the deal then they should walk away.

it's true, lelie's potential is sky high.

rod smith is aging guys. derrick johnson is too. Like, right now.

keyaron fox should worry some in the bronco organization; namely the broadcasters who have to take a stab at enunciating that first name.

Probably won't come up anyhow though.

I’m as pessimistic as the next guy…but disarray? That is a little extreme isn’t it?

We have questions marks, but so does every team in the NFL in today’s salary cap league

They've got enough of them to comfort themselves into thinking that a team can be 7-9 and still be better than all the teams that made the playoffs. It's insane! rofl

Dissarray? Sure, have too many talented guys, and not enough roster spots, that can cause some chaos.

Altho they got Derrick Johnson when he should of been gone, he's still a rookie. K. Bell hasn't shown anything since he was a rookie, and evidently is still hobbled with a poorly healed groin.

Of course with Rod Smith aging, maybe we could discuss Morton...oh wait, he's gone. Eddie Kennison isn't exactly a spring chicken either...hell, their WHOLE OFFENSE is getting long in the tooth, not to mention their Coach! Dissaray? A new D coordinator last year? Hey, at least they gave their mastermind General Manager Carl Peterson a 6 year extention, he did such a good job fixing the defense in 04 with ZERO change they went from 13-3 (they didn't exactly finish out that season too strong either) to 7-9 team in the top half of the draft. Pull the trigger on Ty Law? He's still injured, and I don't think he even wants to play in KC. He's a mercenary anyway. If the fools with tools think Law WANTS to play on the cheap for KC, they are sadly mistaken.

Even Patrick Surtain isn't exactly a spring chicken, and Priest Holmes, while still a good back, is racking up miles and injuries. If anyone needs to worry about aging, it's the Chefs. Hell, Rod Smith was returning punts. He can't be that slow can he?

If the Chefs CAN get through the first four games at 3-1 or 2-2, they might be fine. However, just getting to .500 the first four games will be a challenge for them. They have a brutal September.

That might further speak to the disarray...When somebody that old and slow is the best you got to return kicks it could be really messy in Pile High.

I hold my breath every time Smith returns a punt. I know Smith has experience returning punts, but I still don't like it. I'm hoping Darrent Williams or Triandos Luke will step up and provide the return duties this year.

While I am joking about the disarray just to give you guys a little irritation the fact Smith has been returning punts does say a little something about how poor Shanny has done at drafting young stud athletes the past few years that you have to put your best WR back there in that high risk position. Especially when he isn't anything special in the role. If he were a Deion Sanders, Dante Hall type then the injury risk might be worth it for the big home run opportunities they create but that isn't the case with Smith.

Why, he was solid and returned a punt for a TD in 03. The concern was more about Smith getting hurt than his ability. If Deltha wasn't such a turd, it wouldn't of happened.

Besides, we drafted a special team return man/CB in round 2.
