The last thread was hijacked. Here's a repost of my take on Law.
Just so you all know, Ty Law was on that stupid show after around the horn yesterday and when they asked him if he was going to the Chiefs, he said that "it doesn't look like they have the room for both myself and Surtain." On a side note, I would think that he would want the absolute highest amount of money he could get. I mean he's already played for a dynasty, won multiple championships, and gone to pro-bowls. I think now he just wants set up an enormous nest egg and then retire quietly in some team that's not going anywhere. This tells me he's looking for 1. A multiple year contract. and 2. One that is nice with fewer incentives so he can drink kool-aid on the sidelines and still get paid. Samari Rolle was also a "lock" for the chiefs at one point, and that fell through. Until I read something concrete, I don't believe it. |

What do you want to bet the Chiefs cheat on the salary cap to get Law?

At least C. Brown is out of his walking boot. Ashley Ambrose is an AARP candidate and Ty Law needs to trade in his wheelchair.
Kansas City has made a few steps to improve their defense, it this would of happened two years ago, they might of won a superbowl. |

I understand why the Pats want to get rid of the guy. And, sure I'd want as much of a nest egg as I could get too. But, even with his age and the new p***Y Manning rules, the guy - if healthy - could be a pretty decent strong safety. If he can play, and he still has the heart, and he STILL chooses the Chorfs, then he's either an idiot or the Chorfs are closer to going Bowl than I think.

Hey I lied to be older to get an AARP card. I get 10% at motels and I'm buying a new attic ladder with a 10% discount at Home Depot!

With Donnie done,
Jets looking at Law By RICH CIMINI DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER Jets could intercept Patriots cornerback Ty Law, but it would cost them. After months of wavering about his future, starting cornerback Donnie Abraham notified the Jets this week that he's retiring, his agent said yesterday. The Jets responded by trading for Cowboys cornerback Pete Hunter, and more importantly, intensifying their interest in former Patriots All-Pro Ty Law. The Jets are believed to be one of eight teams showing interest in Law, although his asking price - reportedly about $6 million per year - could be prohibitive. The Jets and Jaguars could be the front-runners for Law, who is still not 100% after a serious foot injury last season. The Jets have kept tabs on Law throughout the offseason, monitoring his recovery from surgery. His agents are notoriously tough negotiators, and there's no doubt they are using Abraham's retirement as leverage. To cover themselves in the short term, the Jets dealt a conditional sixth-round pick in the 2006 draft for Hunter, who wanted out of Dallas. Hunter (five career starts) landed in Bill Parcells' doghouse because he resisted a move to safety. He underwent season-ending knee surgery last September. Abraham, 31, didn't do the Jets any favors by waiting so long to make his decision, which was based on family issues, his agent, Jack Reale, said. Abraham, who lives in Tampa, has three school-age children and he didn't want to uproot his family for another season. He participated in the recent offseason camp while mulling his future, and there were some in the organization who felt he might return for the season. Abraham, signed through 2007, walked away from a $1.4million salary in 2005. Reale said Abraham's decision is final. Originally published on July 15, 2005 |

I stopped posting in the war room months ago. It's incredibly pointless. Let me guess, LABF is calling for Carl Rove's head.

I was just watching NFL Live (football season much be close), and the Ty Law deal isn't exactly a done deal. I don't think that is the team he really wants to go to. Honestly, I don't really care. I DO think we should of tried to pick up Troy Brown.

All the back & forth is a little confusing...check that, it's a LOT confusing, but on NFL Live neither host even mentioned the Chiefs.
That doesn't mean a hell of a lot...the Middlebrooks/Engelberger deal will probably be a 'flash, this just in' sometime over the weekend...but I have to wonder where in the hell the Chiefs get the cap room for guy like Law. If, in fact, they were cheating somehow...and I doubt that...more power to them. If the Broncos could cheat their way to another couple of titles, I'm all for it...just the idea gives ol' greasy Al heart murmers, so, what could be better...but, damn, that would field a nasty secondary where once there was none. I do hope this is just nonsense. |

Glad to see Law was turned of by that required-mullet clause.... some things just aren't worth the fat paycheck.
