Dolphins tight end Randy McMichael was arrested early Saturday morning after witnesses told police that he had given his wife, Cawanna, a bloody nose, reports the Associated Press. This is the second time in 13 months he will be facing charges for abusing his wife. In June of last year he was arrested for aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, a second-degree felony, but prosecutors didn't file charges. This time he was charged with simple battery and criminal trespass. Witnesses told police they saw McMichael throw his wife away from their vehicle several times, according to the police report. Randy admitted he had been drinking before he began fighting with his wife, who was treated for injuries at the scene.

Huh? The guy should be in jail but she shouldn't be married to a guy that could end up killing her. She should have left the first time she thought he WAS capable of hitting her not the first time HE did hit her. Now this is only the second time he's been CAUGHT not the second time he hit her. |

If by making excuses means she should have left his ass LONG before this and because of that he wouldn't have had someone to beat then yeah I guess so. Someone along the way should have helped her to have better respect for herself then that.

By demanding, "WHY IS SHE STILL WITH HIM!!!!!!", you seem to be laying at least partial blame on the victim. Your question boldly insinuates that there must be something seriously wrong with this woman, for example, maybe she wants this type of treatment, maybe she even provokes it. You're starting down an ugly path with that line of open speculation.
These two young people have at least one young child together and who knows however much history. Maybe she thought there was something worth salvaging because she believed him the last time he said he would never hit her again. Maybe she believes that he'll change if he quits drinking. Who the hell knows? Maybe they're both just dumber than dog****. The bottom line is McMichael is the only one responsible for his actions, even if she takes him back again, and she probably will. |

Look at it this way you have a girlfriend that keeps cheating on you and you know it, and you keep taking her back because you "love her". Bamn down the road you end up with a STD. Now I would feel bad for you and everything but the saying "wrong me once shame on you, wrong me twice shame on me, means something to me. Now back to the point. When a man hits a woman the chances are he will do it again. The more she takes him back the more he will think that he can get away with it, toss in the fact that he has some fame behind his name the man could become a beating machine and pretty much get away with it. He's scum nothing can change that but she needs to better herself or she will end up dead. You wouldn't leave a kid in a room with a child molester then why live with a guy that is going to hurt you? |

Even more to prove my point is what about the parents that still continue to take their kids to see Jackson? The guy has never been found guilty of doing anything wrong so I guess its ok for them to do it?
I do think that they should. She shouldn't get some of the blame for it but you know that if you play with a bomb it could blow up on you. Best thing that could happen is he gets locked up and she moves so he can't find her. Last edited by DBroncos4life; 07-11-2005 at 09:38 PM.. |

I have to agree. Sometime sooner or later the "Victim" needs to stand up. It's just sad that many people seem to need these type relationship. It's like a addiction. |

Dolphins' Mcmichael Arrested Following Alleged Altercation With Wife E-mail this story to a friend GROVETOWN, Ga. (AP) -- Miami Dolphins tight end Randy McMichael is facing charges for the second time in 13 months for allegedly hitting his wife. McMichael was arrested early Saturday morning in Columbia County after witnesses told police that he had given his wife, Cawanna, a bloody nose. The 26-year-old McMichael was taken to the Columbia County Detention Center, where he was charged with simple battery and criminal trespass. McMichael was released just before 7 a.m. Saturday after posting a $2,200 bond, according to jail records. "We certainly don't condone the conduct which has been alleged, and we recognize the seriousness of the charges; however, we will not make a specific comment about this matter until we gather more information," Dolphins coach Nick Saban said in a statement Monday. According to the police report, McMichael acknowledged he had two glasses of wine and several beers before arguing with his wife, but he refused to take a field breathalyzer test. Cawanna McMichael, 22, told police the contact with her husband was an accident as he was throwing some of her belongings out of their 1984 Cadillac Coupe de Ville. Four witnesses told police they saw McMichael throw his wife from the car. One witness told police he saw the athlete throw his wife away from the vehicle several times, according to the report. Cawanna McMichael was treated at the scene. Prosecutors decided not to file charges after McMichael was arrested in June 2004 and accused of hitting his wife. McMichael had been charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant woman, a second-degree felony that is punishable by up to 15 years in prison. In his third season with the Dolphins in 2004, McMichael caught a career-high 73 passes for 791 yards and four touchdowns. And the in the bold writing is where the problem lies. Why on earth does he keep protecting this thug. Oh Yavoon she has a 1984 Cad. If her last man couldn't beat that then I don't know what to tell her. |

As I said, these two have at least one child together and maybe she thought he could get treatment for his problems and they might be able to salvage the marriage. For all the divorces in this country, people stay together through some pretty rocky times, including spousal abuse, infidelity and every other kind of disfunction. Many people consider divorce an admission of failure and they'll try anything to avoid the dissolution of their marriage, even believe things they might know deep down are false. Self deception and denial keep a lot of relationships going. |

Having a kid myself the last thing I would want is to keep my family together if it looked anything like what they have. Now she is defending him and NOT pressing charges when four people said that he tossed here from the car. Now not only does he think he can get away with it he is sending a message to his child that this type of stuff is ok. As far as an excuse for the guy, her not being able to better herself is not an excuse for him at all and I'm pretty upset that you would even think that. After reading more about her I'm starting to get the feeling that she will wind up dead because of her LOVE for this crazy thug. If she doesn't leave him now then by god they shouldn't post the next time he does it too her in the paper. The POS hit a chick that was withchild and see believes that he will never hit her again? Ha thats all I have to say about that. |

Oh my. Maybe it's because of all that Stand By Your Man mentality that women are bombarded with.
Better yet. She should leave him. Take the child. Then when he doesn't pay support she can be a money grubbing b****. Pick your poison. |

Just a few things I want to point out Slap: 1. There is absolutely, positively no excuse for McMichaels actions. This man allegedly beat his Pregnant Wife That is the strictest standard in assessing potential violence in the future. If a man will strike a woman who is pregnant with his child, Then 90% of the time he will strike her again. The law must be different in Florida than Indiana because Prosecutors do not need permission to prosecute Felony Assault cases here. I know the Marion county prosecutor and he would have had Dallas Clark on $100,000 Bail and issued a temporary restraining order if this happened in INDY.2. The woman does have responsibility and accountability here. She has a responsibility to Her Child and accountability to her Self. She has zero responsibility for McMichaels decision to strike her. It is now her responsibility to shelter her children from the violent behaviors of the father. People in abusive relationships learned this behavior. Women and Men both learn it from watching their fathers abuse their mothers either physically, mentally, and/or emotionally in most cases. This intergenerational pattern will not stop until someone stops the abuse patterns. This does not even touch on her own issues that keep her in this relationship. 3. Finally, she does have accountability for any actions she chose to provoke him. Those people who we are closest are able to elicit the most emotional reactions from us. People who have poor communication skills use this emotion to manipulate others. In some cases, it is the only way they are heard by their partner. No one knows what really happened to provoke the incident except those two. And, she is the Only one who knows if she went after him with the intent to provoke an incident. Again, this DOES NOT CONDONE McMichaels actions which are his decisions entirely. The only thing we can be sure of is that 4 people saw McMichael abuse his wife in Public. That usually indicates that there have been many private incidents that have gone unreported. That is enough to question his character and make him face the consequences of his actions. A little jaded before the morning coffee Tred? There are some men who try to stop this abusive cycle. We are just having trouble stopping the media and Culture from condoning violence as a good option to conflict resolution. |

I am so going to enjoy watching Johnny-Boy Lightning fold this woman-beater up when he comes across the middle.
I hope he breaks his face. |
