Default Golf Tournament - Chefs Weekend

Omaners,

I am planning a golf tournament for Saturday Sept 24. (The Saturday before the Chefs game.) It will most likely take place at one of the courses in Aurora.

Want to see what kind of interest from all the locals we would have.

Thanks,
AK

I'm interested! We have a bunch of Omaners coming into town that weekend so I'm not sure what all they have planned. What time would it start? Morning I take it?

I must hijack this really quick. Meck, we look good for September 3rd. I can give you the name and number of the gal at CU I have been talking to. Better yet, let me fire an email to the AD himself. He's been very responsive so far whether face to face, or via email.

For this Golf Tourney, I would suggest Green Vally Ranch (Mmmmm, Ranch) or Murphy Creek. Not a big fan of Buffalo run. Also, any chance of trying to play early in the morn? I am watching my buffs get the crap kicked out of them by da U in the afternoon.

I will be at that game. Wouldn't miss it! I thought you were suggesting it might conflict with the date AK had planned is all.

Preliminary plan is to have it at Springhill in Aurora. Its cheap at $40 (including cart) per person. I figure this will allow some of the hacks to play, Murphy Creek and Green Valley are running around $70-$80. I have some other rediculous plans to go along with this and I will get them up this weekend, along with an entry form and all that.

Sprinhill is a great value and less than 1 mile from the bus zone. I know Sassy /Hogan and company were planning on coming over for a BBQ that evening so that would work out well if people want to golf then come over for a pre-tailgate gathering in the evening. Just a thought.

That would be fun if you allow hackers. I usually only play tournaments where there is a rule that you have to have a beer in one hand while putting.

Mr. Blue would be very interested in playing golf. We weren't planning to arrive in Denver until Saturday afternoon or evening, but I'm thinking he'll want to change plans so that he's there in time to participate.

When we were in Denver last September, he spotted a golf course and was wishing he'd brought his clubs (yeah, he's that golf-addicted).

Could a mod slide this thread into the Tailgate forum so it doesn't get lost?

Thanks in advance.

Hey, for all the newly golfing types, may I suggest a best ball format? This usually relaxes the anxiety and makes the event more fun for everybody. Plus, it really allows the whole foursome to get to know each other better since everyone hits from the same spot.

BTW, count me in!

That would be a scramble format, not best ball.
