Default Diaz-Infante Lands in Booth

Thank! god!

Dick Kreck, of the Denver Post, reports former NFL OL David Diaz-Infante's playing days are over, but he will now be the color analyst on Denver Broncos radio. He'll join play-by-play man Dave Logan on the Broncos broadcasts on KOA 850-AM. "It's the closest thing there is to playing or coaching," said Diaz-Infante, an offensive lineman who bounced around the NFL for nine seasons, including five with the Broncos.

He's pretty good. A little giggly, but they could have done much worse.

I guess this means Scott Hastings is the odd man out. I was never his biggest fan and never understood why the Broncos hired a former NBA player in the first place. Hastings had quite a fun ride as a Broncos broadcaster. He was in the booth when the Broncos won both Super Bowls.

How does the general populace feel about Dave Logan? I bet some of the old timers miss the late Bob Martin and Larry Zimmer behind the mic.

Martin & Zimmer REP! Bob Martin was awesome, that voice was amazing. Love the old NFL Films shows with the radio voiceovers, you still get to hear him. So many great memories of those guys.

And the really good news? He won't have far to go when the need for a long snapper arises...

B-Love did a Super Bowl XXXII tape with the Martin voice over. It is a real treat to listen to.

Logan the broadcaster is a lot like Logan the receiver. Throw him a ball, he catches it; put him in front of a microphone and he calls a game. He does his job without a lot of flash and flourish. I have no problem with him, but I'm not inspired either.

Doc behind the mic for Broncos games, that's going to be way cool. I liked him and stinky on the radio together, and I think him and Logan will be a good fit. For the record, I miss Bob Martin and Larry Zimmer. Can they put announcers on the ring of fame? If so, put my name on the petition.

Logan & Hastings are much better than what I get stuck with with the Bears coverage here in Chicagoland on the Score. Hub Arkush (from pro football weekly), Tom Thayer (Supposedly in the closet, lives with boyfriend in Hawaii), and Jeff Joniak (he is ok).

They lost Wayne Larrivee (one of the best announcers I have ever heard) to rival packers about 5 years ago & the radio coverage has been pitiful.

Hub may run PFW well but he is a total Bear management homer & a complete idiot to boot. I loved listenting to the Bear report during Juron's last 2 years, Hub would try to stick up for the guy & callers would call in & bash Juron the whole hour. At one point Hub stated that since none of the callers played footbal that they had no right to criticize. After that callers would call in & state their football expierence (everyting from Madden to actual college players). My daughter was just born premature, had to stay in hospital the 1st 6 weeks of her life so I enjoyed listening to people bash him on my drive into the hospital every evening after work. Some people in life are just stupid & deserve what they get.

Santo & Huges on Cubs brodcasts are even worse.

I look forward to Diaz brining some football insite & stories into the coverage instead of the NBA stories I hear on Bronco broadcast or post games. I still listen to bronco pre/post game on internet but for actual game I rely on DirecTV

I enjoyed watching Wayne Larrivee when he was doing Chicago Bulls games with Johnny Red Kerr.

He still does the Bulls games on WGN.

Another guy who also does a great job on radio here in Chi-town is John Rooney. He & Ed Farmer do a solid job on White sox radio, though Farmer gets too corny at times. Rooney gets called up to do a lot of the big National games like all star & playoffs. Will be nice to hear him call the pale hose in playoffs this year!

Hmmmmm... I know Martin retired from the traffic helicoptor in 1997 but I thought he announced for awhile after that. I tried to find my tape and it isn't in the sacred video drawer. Dimmit! Now it must be in some unpacked box and it is going to drive me nuts. Thanks alot BigPlay!!!!

Where is Blove? As usual he will have the definitive answer....

Are you kidding me? Oh Baby. Denver is going to win this thing.

oh wow i didnt notice he was still there for Bulls games. I havent watched them much lately on WGN though, perhaps i just didnt notice him. Unfortuneatly i cant listen to White Sox radio but i watch White Sox games whenever i can on WGN (Pisses me off that the Cubs are on more often than my sox) and i love Hawk Harrelson but i think Darrin Jackson sucks. What happened to Tom Paciorek?

I miss Wimpy big time. Word on street is that Hawk pushed Tom out due to some ego thing, Hawk thought Tom was getting more popular than him or something. They wern't best of buds off air either. I will always love Tom for '83 season, he was one of my fav's that year.

Since Tom left I have been losing patience with Hawk. DJ does not have the voice/presence for color & struggles with play-by-play when he filled in with Hawk. Hawk has been downright rude to DJ on broadcasts though he is getting better. DJ would offer up some idea & instead of helping out his co-host Hawk would just say "NO" & follow with silence or change of subject.

BlackJack McDowell recently filled in for Hawk when he had some health issue recently & did a great job hope they find a way to move DJ to post game TV analysis with Beltin' Bill Melton & signup Blackjack.

Got to believe White Sox will win a playoff series or 2 this year! They have pitching to do it but wish they had the red hot Carlos Lee back.

Yes. Infact Hastings was on OF1 watching the tape with us while we were parked at the Broncos hotel in KC last year. Hastings told us alot of cool stories. Hastings and Logan had a tradition going that year that started sometime during the season. I guess one day one of them decided to take their shirt of and they hung out the broadcast window at the game. We won that game so they continued it all season long.

Hastings is a Broncos fan straight up. Cool guy.

"Are you kidding me? Oh Baby. Denver is going to win this thing",

That was dave logan

...Logan and Larry Zimmer Covered the Broncos for several years until 96.

Hastings and Logan called both SuperBowl Victories after Larry Zimmer retired from the Broncos and stuck with the Colorado Buffs radio team in 1996....I'm pretty sure Bob Martin died in the late 80's.
