"Skinny" Ricky Williams Back In Drug Program
So how long will he last? He can't join the team until late July. I wonder if he'll even make it that long.
Agent tells Florida paper that Ricky weighs 205
Ricky Williams has rejoined the NFL's substance-abuse program, according to his agent.
Leigh Steinberg, Williams' agent, told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel that the tailback has a copy of the Dolphins' offseason workout program and now weighs about 205 pounds.
Williams will be subject to 10 random drug tests a month and, as a third-time offender, would be suspended for a full season if he fails or misses a test.
Steinberg told the paper Williams is working to get back into playing shape.
"He's confident that his weight and strength are steadily returning, that he'll be in good shape by training camp and that the process will continue throughout training camp," Steinberg told the Sun-Sentinel.
Williams cannot join the team until late July because of his status in the drug-testing program.
How the Dolphins will deal with the $8.6 million judgment the team won against Williams because he breached his contract is unknown.
Meanwhile, with the Dolphins on the eve of next month's training camp, offensive coordinator Scott Linehan told The Associated Press on Thursday that he hasn't been in contact with the running back.
"I've never had a conversation with Ricky, haven't had any discussions offensively about what we would do or wouldn't do," Linehan said. "We've spent all our energy and time on the players who are here."
