How does the QB situation unfold this year? any ideas? I don't think they will put Van Pelt on the PS again this year did he not resign for more money recently? I think Kannel will probably be gone after camp.

I don't know. I wouldn't like going into the season with no experienced vet behind Jake. Don't get me wrong, I am in no way a Kanell fan, but neither BVP or Mauck could possibly be ready to move this team in the event of an injury.

i think it will be:
1. Plummer 2. Kannell - a very reliable back up who knows the broncos system - i dont think we will carry 3 qb's caz of the need for depth at other positions on the field. Mauck and Friehauf will be on the PS while BVP gets cut |

Let me apologize for my horrendous use of the english language. Wow. I meant to say I wouldn't like going into the season without an experienced vet behind Jake. That's a little better.

It scares me too knowing that we could go in to the season without a vet backing up Jake but I recently heard a radio interview with VP and he stated that the coaching staff has already told him that he will play in 4 pre-season games this year, it sounds like they are going to give him every chance to make the playing squad, he fits Jake's mold better. Mauck never impressed me in college or in the pre-season. I am an Ohio State fan and probably biased when I say that Krenzel would be a good back up here, he always finds a way to win,is very intelligent he does not make many mistakes and could learn the system very fast, he won all but one of the games he started last year I think. He did fumble the ball a few too many times last year after getting stuffed.

Living in Illinois, I get to hear a lot of Chicago radio, as well as watch Bears games, and let me just say we don't want Krenzel. He can't throw. They(media) all like him as a person, but just don't think he can play. I would agree with you that he was a stud in college. Definitely a winner, I just don't think he can get it done in the NFL.

It's time to bid Kannel a much earned ticket back home. I think MAuck can handle the backup job with BVP as third string and the broomstick makes the practice squad.

I won't feel too good with Kanell as the backup. That guy just isn't any good. Any game where he has to play an extended period of time, you can chalk it up to a loss. I hope one of the two kids are good enough to take the backup spot.

I will form the Illinois triangle by reiterating what backup and bsteve have stated- Krenzel= intelligent molecular genetics major, which doesn't translate into an NFL QB in this case. Watching Bears games last year was horrific with Craig at the helm. One quarterback who may be worth a camp invite is Tim Couch. Last I knew He was recovering from shoulder surgery, but this could be an opportunity if he is physically capable to get a Steve Beurlein- esque backup quarterback. I know that isn't the most endearing notion, but ask yourselves if it is better than Kannel, Mauck, or BVP? Friehauf is practice squad at best. |

more recently pittsburg suffered an injury to their starting qb in maddox...big ben stepped in to lead the team to a 15-1? record. granted, those two are special players, but there is no reason it couldn't happen again.... |
