Safety Reggie Tongue was released Wednesday by the Jets after starting all 16 games last season.
Tongue played just one season with the Jets and had the longest interception return in the team's postseason history with an 85-yard touchdown run against Pittsburgh. A second-round draft pick in 1996 by Kansas City, Tongue played four years with the Chiefs and four years with Seattle. -- Hey, everyone else get's to ponder every player who gets released. I just thought it was the Bronco way, to talk about every player who is released that is. HAHA!! I know I know, if he were the Reggie Tongue of 4 years ago maybe. I can remember he use to lay the wood in KC. I don't remember much about him in the past several years. But I thought the name of the thread was good for a laugh anyway. Later... ![]() |

Tounge is a classless dirty player. Always has been. Besides, we're probably gonna give Browner and LaSeuer a chance before we pick up a retread like Tongue.

Dirty players sometimes win ballgames. If you are counting on Browner and LeSewage we are in trouble. |

Sure, he's past his prime. And yeah, I think you got better starting stuff on roster already. But he's a solid tackler and good guy. He's your classic older SS: a liability in pass coverage and solid tackler/run stuffer. Great depth at the right price. As 2nd string I'd take him back in a heartbeat... |

He is a good player I just think Denver has enough bodies on the roster right now. Both Fergusen and Lynch have plenty of years in the NFL and I think Denver needs to get younger not older in the secondary.

No thanks on the tongue.
But please, for the love of god please sign this hard hitting coverage machine when he springs loose: http://www.tennessean.com/apps/pbcs....14/1328/SPORTS Schulters in limbo: Safety Lance Schulters, expected to be a salary cap cut in the near future if he doesn't agree to a significant pay cut, did not practice yesterday. Titans General Manager Floyd Reese said he expects to have further discussions with the veteran's agent, Brian Levy, before a final decision is reached. Veteran linebacker Keith Bulluck recently added a Schulters football card to his locker in tribute to his buddy. "This is the wall for my lost homies," Bulluck said. "Lance is cool. I talked to him the other day. He understands this is a business. He is just waiting on them to let him know something so he can do something with his career. "Right now they are just dangling his career on a string, not letting him get out there and do what he needs to do, nor are they telling him anything. But hey, that's the upstairs people… " |

It's time to stop d*cking around and get a real FS.
Shanny, get this guy signed! http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/TEN/8569493 Titans release safety Schulters NASHVILLE, Tenn. (June 16, 2005) -- The Tennessee Titans released safety Lance Schulters shortly after failing to reach agreement on a new salary cap-friendly deal. The Titans, who cut six high-priced veterans in February, had been expected to release the seven-year veteran in their attempt to rebuild and free up enough salary-cap space to build up other weak areas this season. Schulters was paid a roster bonus in March. Team officials and agent Brian Levy made one last attempt at finding a price both could agree earlier this week. "We floated some ideas back and forth," Levy said. "I don't think either of us felt comfortable with the other's ideas. So we just felt it would be best at this time we parted ways amicably. We've accomplished that." Schulters revived the Tennessee defense when signed as a free agent in 2002 after beginning his career in San Francisco. He didn't miss a start until injuring his left foot in the third game last year and missed the rest of the season. Schulters has 5½ sacks and 15 interceptions in his career, and he had 192 tackles and six interceptions in his three seasons with the Titans. |

Tongue a dirty player
? UMMMMM, NODo I want him? NO! Why? Because he is basically the same player as Ferguson with a little better ball skills, he isn't young, he will find a team. |

Schulters is more of a natrual strong safety. I want a ball hawk at FS, Schulters isn't really that. |

But given the way this team drafts that's not going to happen. So let's at least try to upgrade the FS spot and get someone who has a history of making ints, heads up play and good leadership. You won't get one cheaper than this time of year, and could replace Lynch and move to SS next year. I dunno where you get that Schulter is a more natural SS, as far as I know he played FS and in an aggressive scheme in Tennessee where they play press coverage (or used to) so his experience and skill set would fit in very well here. Actually to tell you the truth in our system FS and SS doesn't really matter which you play. Depends on the team really. Tennessee used him very well. He has what you want in a SS, but he has FS skills in the right system, that is just how I feel, and in our system he could excel at playing either. I'd take him on 2nd thought.
