LARGO, Fla. - An autopsy released Wednesday found no evidence to contradict the diagnosis that Terri Schiavo was in a persistent vegetative state after her 1990 collapse, backing up her husband's contention that she would not have recovered if she was given additional therapy as her parents requested. "There's nothing in her autopsy report that is inconsistent with a persistent vegetative state," said Dr. Stephen J. Nelson, a medical examiner who assisted in the autopsy. Pinellas-Pasco Medical Examiner Jon Thogmartin, who led the autopsy team, concluded that there was no evidence of strangulation or other trauma leading to her collapse. He also said she did not appear to have suffered a heart attack and there was no evidence that she was given harmful drugs or other substances prior to her death. Thogmartin said that Schiavo's brain was about half of its expected size when she died March 31 in a Pinellas Park hospice, 13 days after her feeding tube was removed in a wrenching right-to-die dispute that engulfed the courts, Congress and the White House and divided the country. He said she would not have been able to eat or drink if she had been given food by mouth as her parents' requested. "Removal of her feeding tube would have resulted in her death whether she was fed or hydrated by mouth or not," Thogmartin told reporters. http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...chiavo_autopsy |

Good to hear she wasn't abused, her Husband has been portrayed as pure evil by the media and now they can't say much. It's also good to know they didn't kill her when she could have come out of the coma.

The whole Schivo affair just proved, once again, that's it's impossible to argue with people of "faith." Why? Because the "truth" is whatever they say it is. How can you argue with that?

I thought this whole thing was a dead subject (insert rimshot here).
It's over, people on both sides should let it go and move on IMO. |

I just don’t like the shots at people who believe in God, granted a lot of them deserve the ridicule, but not everyone who believes in God is that bad. |

uuuuuhhhhhgggggg. Not this again. Worst part about this whole freakin thing is how the press had a field day...well, week with this crap. Bottom line is this. She told her husband when she was still herself, that if something like this happened she wanted to die. All the people that made the god arguement outta this make me sick. I'm not a overly religious man, but I do believe in a higher power. Call it God, Herman, Allah, Jesus, Mr. Sparkle, whatever you want really. But if you do believe that "god" is all powerful, and merciful and loves us all, do you really think he would want to see what was left of Terri, a women who was pretty much a vegetable by that point, couldn't even see it turns out, having little brain function left be held in this world just to make her parents happy? I can't speak for god, but I would kinda doubt it. Wouldn't it have been much easier to let her pass when she wanted to so she could be in "a better place" or with god if you will. Kinda seems like almost holding a "soul" hostage just to make some of the living happy, against the wishes of Terri herself and her husband. Then to have it turn into the freakin media circus? It's pretty much everything that is wrong with this country.
Sorry for the rant, just my humble opinion. Last edited by MT-Tdawg; 06-15-2005 at 12:11 PM.. |
