Just got back from a screening in NOVA at an Arlington theatre...great movie....I highly recommend it. Better than EIII from a stand alone POV, IMO.

Yeah, I've heard this film is VERY good as well. Siskel and Roper said it's what the original Batman should have been. although I actually liked the original batman from a comic bookish point of view. The rest have sucked though.

The first two movies were good...the next two were too much like the Adam West TV show....I'm surprised they weren't shown in the "skewed" format

It was a screening from Home Realty and I'm doing a conversion of a settlement shop for my company to our network. They had extra's and invited me and a co-worker. Nice mall...Arlington has cleaned up a bit in that spot it seems...but I haven't been there in years. Last edited by Garcia Bronco; 06-14-2005 at 08:18 PM.. |

It HAS to be better than the train wreck known as "Batman and Robin". I'm looking forward to seeing this movie...

It looked really good to me. I may have to go check it out. Who could resist seeing Christian Bale in a form-fitting suit, after all?!

I loved the '90s cartoon version of Batman. It was dark, and Batman was very serious. The stories were very good. Is this movie more along the lines of that? I hope so. |

Three movies came out of that series, and they were all very good. Subzero, Mask of Phantasm, and The Batman Superman Movie (which was my favorite). I remember Siskel and Ebort saying that Mask of Phantasm is what all the Batman movies should be like. They gave it two thumbs up. The thing I liked about The Batman Superman Movie was that they didn't like each other at all. And they were trying to one up each other. Superman uses his X ray vision to see through Batman's mask. So Batman puts a little tracking devise on Superman's cape. Then tracks him down to his appartmen. As Clark Kent he finds it on his cape, looks out his window, and sees Batman looking at him from about a mile away ontop of a building. Batman has a smile on his face and Clark Kent was pissed. That movie has a lot of good moments like that.
There was an episode of Batman where Superman had to play like he was Batman because Bruce Wayne was missing. It was a trip to see Superman trying to do Batman's job, because their personalities were so different. |

I think its just DC trying to capitalize on Marvel's success with the X-Men and Spiderman movies. The new Batman movie looks pretty good from the trailers but I'll hold off judgment until I get a chance to see it. To be honest, I just watched Spiderman 2 and enjoyed it more than the first one, even though I really liked it too. Course I grew up with Spidey as my fav comic book superhero anyway.

Local radio said this morning that they are bringing it today, nationwide was my understanding as they made the point that they aren't waiting for Friday. |

I hope it is good I have been waiting for a comic book movie that stuck close to the comic, Spiderman stayed close so did Daredevil and Hellboy, the rest strayed away. I still think the new Superman movie souds like a complete diaster, it could kill the whole comic book movie thing for a few years just like Batman and Robin did.

The whole reason that they make these movies is because they already have a fan base that people are familiar with. And the fans want to see on the screen what they have came to love in reading the books, so why when we get to the theatre we see Brian Singer's version of the X-Men instead of the one that we have seen for the last 40 years. Most people's idea of the Hulk was the TV show and that was far removed from the book but still far better that Ang Lee's Hulk, Sam Raimi at least respected the comic and did his best, The writer of the Batman movie IS A COMIC BOOK WRITER and even he probably had a hard time getting it right but it will be the closedst version we have seen yet, I am not a fan of the Spy Kids (i have never seen them cause they seem stupid and i am not 5 yrs old) but what Robert Rodriguez did with Sin City was awesome wether you were a fan of the book or not you had to respect how he put it together, the most accurate of all the movies.

I do agree about the casting. I'm basing my opinions on the cartoon series back in the '90s that came on Fox Kids. It came on about the sametime the Batman cartoons were coming on. In the cartoon Peter Parker was a bit of a dork, but he didn't come off as a complete wuss like Toby Maguire does. I could picture the cartoon Peter as Spiderman, but I can't do the same with Toby. He's too much of a wimp. In the cartoon Harry Osborn was a complete wuss. Toby should have played Harry, and the guy that played Harry should have played Spiderman. There is nothing hot about Kirsten Dunst. The biggest problem that I had with the movie, just like with the Batman movies, was there was too much Peter Parker, and not enough Spiderman. Spiderman seemed like he was barely in the movie. In the cartoon he went through all his issues as Spiderman, not as Peter. The Batman movies had the same problems. Too much Bruce Wayne, not enough Batman. And Batman wasn't mean enough. In the cartoon it was mostly Batman, and he was a mean SOB. The guy was old school. He was the Dark Knight. |
