A-Rod hits #400 - The Orange Mane

Say what you will about his contract (I've been known to call him Pay-Rod now and again), his team or his girlish slap at the ball in last years ALCS, this guy is the genuine article.

The youngest player ever to hit 400 home runs and he's done it without mysteriously bulking up. He's put himself in some pretty elite company.

Alex Rodriguez, 29 years, 316 days
Ken Griffey Jr. 30 years, 141 days
Jimmie Foxx, 30 years, 248 days
Mickey Mantle, 30 years, 285 days
Eddie Matthews, 31 years, 185 days
Frank Robinson, 32 years, 9 days

That's a hell of a feat. If he avoids the Griffey Jr. injury bug there's no telling how many he'll have before he retires.

ARod gets a lot of heat, but he's an all time great. Compare his numbers against B*nds at the same age and Alex leaves him in the dust. He's looking like a triple crown contender this season. Surprisingly, he's having a tough season defensively, but I'm sure he'll snap out of it.

I hope so. It concerns me that Albert's already having so many issues with his feet, though.

I want to post a pic of Miguel Cabrera and his chances at the record, but I wouldn't wan to impede on Breck Bronc's guy like that, so I'll leave it up to him to do so if he pleases.

I'm a big fan of Albert because he's a great player, and he's a great human being. It's always good to see great guys accomplish great things. Anyways, ARod is the type of guy that sneaks up on your, a quiet greatness if you will. Yes he has the huge contract, but he is no doubt one of the greats playing today
