Default How Comfy are we with Danny Kanell?

Just a question....why haven't we gone after Kordell Stewart like we did last year?? At least he can run better than cement shoes Kanell. Just a thought because he also brings some veteran leadership. What has changed in a year??

Kanell's performance against the Pats 2 yrs ago made me feel very comfortable with him in there as a backup. I have never liked Kordell. He always had a top 5 defense and top 5 running game supporting him in Pittsburgh and he could always be counted on to blow it in the end.

Absolutely not comfy at all... If Jake goes down, our season is finished. Jake makes some stupid decisions, to be sure. But at least he is confident on the field.

I thought he was terrible in that game. I had no confidence in his abilities, or the ability of this team to win with him in there. Our offense looked like... well, it looked like we had Danny Kanell in there and we were doing whatever we could to minimize that weakness. We did a good job of it, but still didn't win...

No confidence in Danny whatsoever.

I am 100% Perfectly comfortable, without a doubt in my mind, behind all the way with Kanell...on the bench.

There's nothing wrong with Danny Kanell. We're lucky to have him. Kordell, no way, pleeeeeeeeaaasse!

Remember when Shanny was talking about signing Kordell if he couldn't sign Plummer? It was incredible ridiculous then, and I'd go ballistic if it happened now.

If you asked me prior to the 1998 season how comfortable I was with Bubby Brister starting half the upcoming season, I would've thrown up all over myself.

There is a reason a guy is a backup. He's not as good as the starter. How many teams COULD survive if their starters went down? Not many. Chances are, the ones that could are teams that had crappy starting QBs to begin with, so there really was no difference in play.

Sorry guys, we can't bring in Tom Brady as a backup and there are no viable options out there as far as I can tell.

You're nuts, sir. Maybe one of the youngsters can take the #2 position, but they're going to have put on a pretty good show to do it. Danny Kanell didn't play at all last year, and the year he did play was his first year in the system.

Last preseason there was a lot of talk about how Kanell played a lot better than Plummer. And he did. The offense actually looked crisp when Kanell was running it. The O didn't look crisp all damn year with Plummer running it.

I heard Tim Couch couldn't hit a barn.

We need a franchise QB, next year.

Danno will have to do for now.

We don't need more trailer trash backups.

Denver needs a true franchise QB.

I'm counting on Washington to deliver the pick we need.

I'm not really sold on the QB crop next year tho.

Seems nice and deep at OT.

Competition for top QB's is so damn stiff, THANK YOU REDSKINS! If there's one guy that's worth taking a chance on, Denver definiitely has the ability to move into one of the top three slots and get him.

He did say in the preseason, so Kanell is capable of running a crisp offense as long as the opposition has their 3rd string defensive players in.

You must have been barbecueing or something. I understand, there are distractions that keep you from concentrating. No problem. You'll get a chance to see it again this year.

Lets see...Comfy and Danno. NOT!

However, it's not because of DK.

Actually, Kanell probably is a fairly good QB. The problem is he isn't very mobile. In fact he doesn't do well with movement and he is the classic POCKET qb. Give him time in the pocket and he'll find the open receiver. And he throws a more accurate pass than Jake. He throws a nice ball, easy to catch and will hit receivers in stride. But not if he's on the run.
Two years ago was his first year in the system, and it showed when he was forced to start. He didn't know the check downs, and couldn't read the defense. When he had to move it showed. And he had to move a lot. If a team stopped our run game we were toast.

The problem is that our offense is designed around movement. And a MOBILE QB. If Jake goes down the entire offensive pass blocking scheme has to change to accomodate a pocket QB. You don't change the scheme that easily, even with pros. In fact you have to have exceptional pass protection , and our offensive line isn't that strong.

So as long as our backup is a pocket QB, I'm NOT comfy. It changes too much of the Offense to give us a good chance.

I can't believe it took two whole hours before people started hating on BVP. The CU grads must have just finished their shifts at McDonalds.
