Seems to me Fred Phelps (you know, the guy whose homophobia is only a little worse than LABF's) counts as a black mark against the Democratic party.

After all, 'ol Fred was an invitee to and attendee of both of Clinton's inaugurations - clearly the Democrats put party loyalty above principle, and are loath to distance themselves from such a tremendously odious fella.

The Democratic Party doesn't think so.

Why do they tolerate - heck, reward, a "low down rotten to the core piece of Shít"?

The only "failed movement" with which I'm familiar is when I don't get enough fibre.

That said, it's clear to all that LABF has some deep-seated fears regarding homosexuality - he wouldn't attempt to use homosexual acts as insults if that wasn't true, despite his denials ("figure of speech") to the contrary.

Also, he says in another thread that he has me on ignore, yet he responded to me in this thread. Just a fact to consider.

Yet another KKKristian KKKoalition leader caught in the act

NEW YORK - After news broke that local law enforcement officials were investigating complaints that Louis Beres, longtime chairman of the Christian Coalition of Oregon, had molested three female family members when they were pre-teens, The Oregonian in Portland went out and interviewed Beres' family members.

Two told reporters that Beres, indeed, had molested them. All three said they have been interviewed for several hours by detectives.

Another Christian Coalition honcho caught molesting kids

Another day, another pedophile in the Christian Coaltion.

This time it involves the Republican running for Attorney General in Virginia!

http://www.raisingkaine.com/1046

the Republican candidate for Attorney General, Bob McDonnell — who has earned the nickname “Taliban Bob” for his obsession with sodomy and his gay-baiting of a woman (Newport News Circuit Judge Verbena Askew) he suspected of being a lesbian — once employed a pedophile as his campaign manager! That’s right, McDonnell’s former top aide, Robin W. Vanderwall, was convicted on July 26, 2004, for “attempted indecent liberties with children.”

Ive gotta say...the politicians in the party do not represent the morality of their constituents as related to the Christian bloc. They pander to that bloc because its the largest unified bloc in the country. It doesnt necessarily mean that any of the politicians in that party at all subscribe to those ideals, but that they are ready and willing to sell themselves on a platform that supports the wishes of that bloc.

If the purpose of your post is to point out that politicians are self-serving frauds, then I would have to agree with that generalization in most cases. If your point is to ridicule Republicans for being immoral as a way to discredit the platform of the party, then I would have to say that your deduction from that information is one that shouldnt be made based on the fact that you are taking a tiny amount of limited information from an extremely large sample and drawing a large generalization based on that tiny shred of questionable information. You simply cannot do that and be intellectually honest. There is an agenda at work here and I dont think that it is too productive unless you find mudslinging productive. If that is the case, then you might have scored because any minute now the peanut gallery will arrive and inundate this thread with support and more insults.

No, the ideal thing is to realize that people are disgusting. You are inferring the situation caused by the two party system has not had an effect on the way that that particular bloc votes, and I just dont believe that is true. You have to put some of the issues you believe in aside to look at the bigger picture. That's not to say that the Christian bloc doesnt find child abuse and molestation revolting and alarming. Jesus exhorts children and says that it is a terrible sin for an adult to lead a child into sin.

Interesting choice of words, Angry... "leading a child into sin". From my viewpoint, for an adult male (or female, for that matter; gender is irrelevant, although the vast majority of pedophiles are male rather than female) to have sex with a child would instead be defined as "forcing or compelling the child into a sex act for the adult's gratification"... making the child a victim and not a co-sinner.

Sure...that's correct. Were on the same page there.

The incidence is normally so intrusive and disruptive to the child's psychological development that it leads the child into sins of his/her own. It's a viscious and terrible cycle that sometimes results in the repetition of the offense by the molested child onto his or her victim in their own adulthood as they struggle with the incident.

Children that are molested also have a higher occurrence of depression, drug addiction, sexual promiscuity, and other sins. The original offender instilled that seed into their young mind and thus led them into sins of their own persay.

Yeah, sometimes victims of pedophiles grow up to become victimizers themselves.... largely as the result of the emotional scars inflicted by the adult abusers. Those scars will last a lifetime regardless of whether or not the victims repeat the destructive behavior themselves. The level of permanent damage inflicted on the victims is why we as a society need to reinforce the message that pedophilia is not OK... as common as it seems to be in today's society, it would appear that perhaps the message isn't getting through as clearly as it should.

From the second linked article....

"With just over half of the 110,000 mail-in ballots counted, 38,718, or 65 percent, voted to recall West, while 20,681, or 35 percent, voted to retain him."

The numbers seem vaguely familiar... 65% vs. 35%....

Yep.

These familiar percentages probably reflect the number of actual Kerry voters vs. the number of actual Bush voters in '04 as well.

One last "epitaph" on the sorry, sad Jim West saga, if I may.... the results of the recall election were certified on December 16 and a new interim mayor took over to finish West's term. (I'll take the time to find the link if it's requested; it was on the local news. )
