Default Jim Rome

I know this has been kicked around before, but man, can anyone be possibly more ignorant and irritating?

Besides me.

The Clown shows every indication he's not a moron, then proves me wrong.

Woody Paige is dancing on the table playing with chopsticks on ATH.

Skip Bayless, Steven A. Smith, Jay Mariotti.......

But yes, Rome is a moron. When it was announced that espn would be taking over MNF, profootballtalk floated an idea of the announce team being berman, steve young, and jim rome.

When Rome started here in Southern California during the early 90s, he was very cutting edge and entertaining. Over the years, he has sounded more and more like a broken record.

Has anyone ever heard his show when Steve Elkington is on? It's a f'n riot. I will admit though, that the programing here is very limited.

I personally think Rome is a bright guy, but I get sick and tired of the sophomoric humor from the dumb faxes he reads over the air. I think Rome is too repetitive as well. He tends to overuse the same phrases over-and-over to express his opinions.

I think the Jim Rome Show is at its best when Jim Lampley or John Feinstein are guest hosts.

Why am I not surprised that the resident board racist has something bad to say about somebody else?

Seriously, every single post mock makes now is "______ is so stupid, man, what a freakin' dimwit."

We've gone from S.A. Smith, to Skip Bayless, to Woody Paige, to Charles Barkley, to Jim Rome. I'm curious who's next on mock's wheel of hate?

Seriously, there are some anger issues in Hickville. I'm surprised he hasn't put his cat in the microwave yet.

It was a can't miss show back when it was confined to the Southland. It turned into a pile of crap as soon as it went national, though.

Back in the late 80s/early 90s the Mighty 690 was a badass radio station. Lee "Hacksaw" Hamilton may look like Moe Howard and sound like Ted Knight, but his knowledge of sports used to be deeper than any other radio hack breathing. Can't say if he's maintained that level of quality, since I haven't really listened to him in years, though.

Hacksaw is going strong. Just this year, he was voted by his peers as Southern California's best sportscaster. When I have been working hard all day without sports news, I usually will tune in about 3:07 p.m. because Hacksaw will tell you everything that's going on in the world of sports in what he calls, "The Best Fifteen Minutes of Radio".

If you like Formula 1 auto racing, soccer, you name it, Hacksaw will talk about it and he will back it up with knowledgeable opinions about a wide range of sports. Just last Monday, he devoted most of his show talking about the Corrales-Castillo fight when nobody was mentioning it or giving it much publicity.

As a matter of fact, I called Hacksaw twice in the last month talking about the Padres and the Broncos' draft.

Only if they're planning to execute her. The worst sports talk ever. As if the Flatulent Sports Blob wasn't obnoxious and clueless enough, she provided another stage for Barry Melrose. The only good thing about the NHL lockout is not having to see Melrose's smarmy stupid face anymore.

You must have missed the NCAA Hockey Tournament. Melrose was right there, front and center, to continue his bashing of all things Denver.

I should start pulling Hacksaw up online in the afternoon. His range and depth of knowledge has always been encyclopedic, I'm glad to hear he hasn't sloughed off any over the years. People get lazy in that business. Should have known he wouldn't, though. Just not the type.

I guess the biggest difference between Rome and Hacksaw is that Lee is 100% genuine article and Rome blows with the winds of popular opinion. I'm so damn tired of hearing Rome climb up onto his soapbox over the overblown sensitive issue of the day. Its really funny to see how inconsistent he is over what's offensive language or not on his show. I guess, as long as he thinks its funny, its fair game, unless a few groups complain, then Romey bends like a willow tree to accomodate them. Makes him look hypocritical and spineless, in my opinion.

I was getting updates from my correspondent in Colorado during the tourney, which spared me seeing that Billy Ray Cyrus looking imbecile.

Now, if you really want to talk about something heinous on the airwaves:

Sometimes I'll tune in to this Catch-U-Next-Tuesday's show just to see how much I can tolerate. Its like pressing on a bruise.

XTRA 690 has switched over to AM 570. You can find it here:

http://www.foxsports1150.com/bracketrules.html

One of my favorite Rome stories was back in 98 when Gordie Howe was going to skate on the ice in a minor league game for a couple of minutes to become the first player to play professional hockey in most decades (I forget the exact number). Of course, Howe was only going to skate around in his little spot and not get involved in the action.

Rome went on his radio show and put on a bounty on Howe. He offered $2,000 to any minor league hockey player that lit Howe up into the boards.

Howe and his attorney filed a formal complaint to the Los Angeles Police Department. Even ABC News did a story on the "bounty" and Rome eventually admitted that it was nothing more than a "joke".

Yes, Rome for many years has ridiculed athletes on his program and then he kisses their ass when he conducts interviews with them. For years, Rome could never say a good thing about Bill Walton and now he decribes him as one of his "favorite analysts". I am shocked that John Elway has even appeared on Rome's show as many times as he has.

That's the other thing about him. You can be a worthless piece of crap, but he'll kiss your ass as long as you're a "Jungle Guy". If you don't go in his show, he'll take cheap shots galore, though. A perfect example is that douchebag Mark Cuban. Now if there's anybody who should be ridiculed 24 hours a day on sports radio, its this jerkoff. Instead, Rome gives the shameless media whore a two hour interview and kisses his ass the entire time.
