Is Cleveland cursed? Are they being punished for erecting a graven image when the real Browns moved in the night? Check this out:
1999 - Round One, Pick One - Tim Couch Verdict: Bust 2000 - Round One, Pick One - Courtney Brown Verdict: One man's trash is another man's treasure? 2001 - Round One, Pick Three - Gerrard Warren Verdict: It better damn well be another man's treasure, huh? 2002 - Round One, Pick Sixteen - William Green Verdict: Bust 2003 - Round One, Pick Twenty One - Jeff Faine Verdict: Leave it to the Browns to draft a soft, injury prone center in the first round... Bust (Side note: We drafted George Foster one pick ahead of Faine. Not the reach the "experts" said it was, now was it?) 2004 - Round One, Pick Six - Solja Winslow Jr. Pvt. First Class Verdict: ![]() Braylon Edwards had better start getting familiar with the real estate in Denver... |

I am pretty excited about Warren though, he has very good tools. Coyer just has to get it out of him. I hope the trade shook him, how little we had to give up for him. I hope that shook him and motivated him. He has skills. We shall see.

You left out the Drive, the Fumble, and the Blowout, yet alone the team left for Baltimore, which went on to win a SuperBowl. Not only that, do you think pimp daddy Braylon Edwards isn't going to catch the first bus out of town? Miami had promised him the second pick, and this flavor clown winds up in Cleveland? At least take a workhorse. Braylon stinks of Flava Clown.

I'm dissapointed we didn't redo Warren's contract. Fat Ass is a beast.
I predict a big season, not in stats, but because he can plug the line. He's very underrated. Cleveland's linebackers were horrible. Ours are not. Last edited by watermock; 05-06-2005 at 01:42 AM.. |

Either way, he came up bust for them. Along with every other first round pick they've had. Kind of makes anyone's complaints about Shanahan's first round choices seem a little frivolous...

I don't think I've ever seen a team draft so poorly from the high positions they've had over the course of only a few years...my God, they had to #1 over-all picks in that time.
NUMBER ONE...and one of them is out of football altogether. The Bengals & Tampa Bay seemed to find ways to draft eye-popping busts through the years, but Cleveland has perfected the process in only 5 or 6 drafts. It IS bad, bad luck, coupled with lousy coaching...a destructive formula no matter how you cut it. |

I know the company line, but I'm interested to find out what "vibe" you've gotten from Patterson or even Coyer about Warren? |

Last time I was in Cleveland, we got a psycho cab driver who we seriously thought for a few minutes was going to pull out a gun and kill us. Guess he must have been a big Browns fan.

Yes, this city is cursed with sports teams.
Browns: Along with the new Browns drafting busts, think about their sole playoff game when they were up 29-14 in the 4th quarter and lost even with Kelly Holcomb throwing for 429 yards(Dennis Northcutt dropped a first down pass that would've clinched the game for them.) Then there's the 3 AFC Championships against Denver, 1980 against Oakland(they needed a FG but the weather was so ****ty that they decided to try and score a TD, Sipe throws an interception on the goalline to win it for Oakland.) Their last title was in 1964, and haven't been to the title game since. Indians: Last title was in 1948, lost to the NY Giants in 1954 in a 4 game sweep when Cleveland was the heavy favorites. Had a long drought of fulitity until 1995 when they made the World Series, but lost to the Atlants Braves(who have made the postseason 13 straight years and only won 1 world series, just so happened to be against the tribe.) Then the Indians reached the WS again in 1997, against the Marlins, the series goes to game 7 where Jaret Wright pitched a 1 hitter to the 7th when after another hit, Hargrove pulls him, result: Bobby Bonilla 2 run HR. Indians still had the game won until a routine ground ball to secondbaseman Tony Fernandez was "Bucknered" givjg the marlins life as they tied it up and sent the game into extra innings. Edger Renteria hits a liner up the middle off Charles Nagy to score Craig Counsell and Marlins win it. Cavs: I could get into detals with things like their collapse this year by being in 2nd place in the eastern conference on February 1st and somehow managed to not make the playoffs just 2 months later, and I could point out the shot by Jordan over Ehlo, I could mention a few others but I'll just say this :35 years, not even a finals appearance. |

Both Ohio teams have drafted horribly. It looks as if Cleveland picked up where Cincy left off. How can you get excited over a top 5 pick if you're a Bengals fan?
1992 (1st round, No. 6) David Klingler He played just four seasons in Cincinnati, playing in 31 games and throwing 16 TDs and 21 INTs, before finishing his career with the Raiders. 1993 (1st round, No. 5) John Copeland Copeland played eight seasons in Cincinnati, recording just 24 sacks in 107 games over that span. 1994 (1st round, No. 1) Dan Wilkinson While a solid NFL player, Wilkinson was hardly the dominating force the Bengals envisioned when they made him the No. 1 overall selection in the draft. 1995 (1st round, No. 1) Ki-Jana Carter For the second straight season the Bengals had the No. 1 pick in the draft and it turned out to be a nightmare. Carter blew out his knee in the preseason before his rookie year and from there his NFL career was a series of injuries and disappointments. 1999 (1st round, No. 3) Akili Smith Needless to say, draft day has been the highlight of Smith's career in Cincinnati. Smith started four games as a rookie, 11 games in 2000. 2000 (1st round, No. 4) Peter Warrick Originally considered a possible candidate for the top pick in the 2000 draft, Warrick slipped a little due to questions about his speed. However, the Bengals grabbed him at No. 4, believing they got a steal. Last edited by Arkie; 05-06-2005 at 01:48 PM.. |

Didn't The Browns have something to do with Art Modell's Ravens? I cannot believe how bitter they were when that team won.

Matt Stover was the only player on that team that played for the Browns when they moved to Baltimore, it was hardly any part of Cleveland. |
