Just taking a pulse to see who might be interested in having a little offseason get together at A-Basin ski resort sometime before they close in July.
http://www.arapahoebasin.com/ That is no joke they don't usually close until 4th of July and by the way things are going they should make that mark. I was out there a couple weeks ago and conditions where great! Ak1971 was up there the other day and said the "Beach" was hopping. The "Beach" is basically one big tailgate right in the parking lot at the base of the lifts. AK and I were kicking around the idea of getting the bus up there for a little skiing, boarding, bbqing, orangemane "Pimping", watching some old Broncos tapes or whatever sports are on that day between runs etc. I know a few others have expressed some interest in skiing around here so I thought I would toss this out there. I'm flexible for a date except for Memorial weekend at this point. Depending on how many people wanted to go I'd be happy to give some people a ride up and back. I have a friend who is a professinal RTD driver who would be willing to drive up and back that day. Or if you prefer you could meet us in the lot. They have group rates available for 15 people or more but there are always cheap lift tickets to A-basin especially late season. I'd bet we could find lift tickets for less than $30 bucks. So if someone has any feedback drop a post. I'd imagine we wouldn't do this for atleast 3 or 4 weeks? or maybe longer? Honestly even if you don't like to ski just to sit in the sun at the "beach" is a great time this time of year. Weather should be nice enough so everyone can wear their favorite jersey. Or in the case of the "Orange Pimp" ak 1971 his Orange Pimp Suit. ![]() Last edited by Meck77; 04-05-2005 at 11:31 AM.. |

Map of A-basin. This place has it all from extreme to nice green cruiser runs.
http://www.firsttracksonline.com/arapahoemap.jpg I think I'd die laughing after I saw the "Disco Man" in his outfit dropping in after hiking a bit on the East Wall. The East wall is an area you can traverse to off the highest lift. It's not a bad little hike and is usually worth it if powder is light on the main runs. Sorry forget to check this forum on a regular basis. I got my apps in of course I go black powder mostly. As far as Orangeforceone making a SW Colorado fishing trip that would be awesome. Would have to cordinate with others my summer is already booking at the speed of light. I not only can accomidate the Bus but have full RV electrical and septic hook up on the property. We have the Gunnison and Blue Mesa along with 2 miles of privite property on a smaller river know for Browns. Add in a 18 foot searay well equiped for fishing/tubing for the lake the fishing options are unlimited. |

Hotrod if you can hook that up that would be sweet and if you give us the green light you'll have a big orange land yacht in your yard with a BBQ sticking out of it's belly as she sings some "Rocky Mountain High....Colorado!!!" |

So I'm confused. You live around Denver or down in Raton with the rest of the crew. |

I'm in CSprings. Ron is the only one in Raton.
I'm a total ski bum. I've never made a Crush game cuz of ski season. Lora and I have Breck-Keystone-Vail-ABasin passes and we are planning at least a couple weekends at the Basin. We always do the tailgate thing at the beach when we go to the Basin. Nothing like drinkin' at 12,000ft!! |

Well April 30th we are doing a pig roast so I'm going to have to check about the 14th. My bus crew is coming into town from Tucson sometime around then. Still waiting on the exact day. We are planning on a full week of work on the bus If it works out though I'd like to take them along for a day at the beach on the 14th. I'll get back to you on this. |

Woody I still want to get the bus up there without a doubt. The thing is two guys from Tucson (bus construction crew) are going to be in town (May 12th-May 24th). Our plan is to get alot of stuff done on the bus. As it stands now I don't think I can make the 14th. We'll be working on her everyday probably up until the 24th. After that I'm taking OF1 to Dallas for a family reunion. I'm thinking early to mid June is the soonest I can get her up to the slopes. Sorry for the delay but I just have to get the Orange ship tightened up for the season. We have atleast 10,000 miles of traveling to do and this year I want to make sure she doesn't rattle. |
