Default Scouting 2006 draft: Peeking ahead at next year's Top 32

http://www.cbs.sportsline.com/nfl/story/8418674/1

Looks like we'll be able to draft Matt Leinart next year with the way the Redskins offseason has went so far.

Screw that give me that tackle and Vince Young or Rodrique Wright.

Two things I want next year: Safety (if the younger guys don't develop), WR replacement for Rod, Tackle (Lepsis may be gone), DT or DE.

I'll take a QB if one falls in our laps (ala Rodgers this year) but I want other areas filled first.

Gonna take alot to move up to #1...unless you somehow fall into that pick without trading.

Good point.

I'd like to see KC draft an OT at #32.

My vote will be D'Brickashaw Ferguson until something changes my mind. Dominant LT will do far more for our offense than another WR or rookie QB.

How about Bush and Gabe Watson. D'Brickashaw is also a fine selection.

When you pick that high, they damn well better not be looking at just short term impact. I'd take a future franchise QB even if it means he's on the bench for a year or two, with the next choice being a franchise LT.

Adrian Peterson could be there for us (in the top 5 ) if he comes out after his soph. season.

Adrian is a one-cut and go guy that can lay the quick-twitch juke on the secondary and make them fall over. If he doesnt have the space to do that, he just runs them over. If they latch on to him, he drags them until there is a dog pile 10 yards down the field. Super fast breakaway speed and extreme strength and power. A one of a kind.

This kid running downfield behind zone blocking would be unstoppable. Look out Barry Sanders.

I think you need to do some more reading on NFL draft eligibility.

I duno most of the prospects for the 2006 draft, but I'm betting Shanahan will take a big play reciever. I doubt he'll take Leinart.

I predict:
Jimmy Williams, CB, Virginia Tech: At 6-3, 219, he is big corner with good speed. Played safety early in his career at Tech, but make no mistake about it. This is a corner
and then
Antonio Cromartie, CB, Florida State (Jr.): At 6-3, 200, he's another bigger corner who has all the skills to be a shutdown player on the next level.

If we can get Leinart (i.e. have the #1 pick) we'll take him, I'd almost guarantee it. Shanahan has to see these two first rounders as the oportunity to load up an already good team for the future. We'll look QB and WR, ideally a WR who can compliment Lelie's downfield threat with some short yardage receptions taken for big YAC.

Give me a stud tackle (defensive or offensive) and a WR and I'll be happy. I would love to get Rodrique Wright (this is assuming our d-line doesn't pan out or Warren is a bust). If our d-line does pan out I would like to get Vincent Young and a tackle or WR.

I really hope that shanny trades up to get another first or early second...how sweet would that be. I don't want us to trade up either unless somebody like Rodgers falls again. I really want us to get three positions solidified in the next draft (QB, OT, DT/DE, WR, Safety??)

Any 6'4 plus QB available with skills, go get them. Don't even waste time with guys 6'4 or less. If the tall guy is mobile, so much the better, but tall has to be the first consideration, not mobility.
