Draft day memories
I've been watching the draft on those late April weekends since 1991 and I'm sure most of you have watched it longer, but this is the one event I always look forward to other than the NCAA tourney and the NBA draft, there have been so many memories from the draft: players picked where I never thought they would be (Luke Pettigout comes to mind w/ the Giants, Marcus Nash, coff, coff; and others) and sleepers (Tom Brady, TD, Tom Nalen, etc).
I have my rankings, the Sporting News draft preview, Pro Football Weekly and see where playerss get picked where and see if teams take that person I think they will (This is one is Memorable for me cuz as a lifelong AU fan, this is once in a lifetime, Three AU or even four AU players could be picked in the first round and what makes it special is they are all good guys and embody what is right w/ athletics).
But there are those memories that make this a great thing to watch:
I could never forget during the 99 draft where those idiot Eagle fans were booing Donovan McNabb cuz they wanted a running back who is now scouring my Motherland of India. I will never forget when the Vikings draft, remember when they picked McKinnie three years ago and they drafted him after waiting till the last minute and didnt get their card in on time and the next team got their card in before the Vikes got theirs in and then their snap-fu two years ago when they did the same thing in the McKinnie debacle when they picked the DT Williams from OK St. and then a rapid fire three picks in like four minutes that followed (which included Jordan Gross to the Panthers, Leftwich to the Jags). That was classic. I was watching and saying not again.
And others, the famous Mel Kiper-and that Colts gm (I now cant remember his name) spat in the 94 draft where Kiper said "Thats why the Colts draft this high every year cuz they make mistake after mistake and they bypassed Trent Dilfer this time." And the Colts GM spit back, "Who is Mel Kiper and he's never worn a jock strap and played football."
More will be made on this April Saturday.

The only one that really stands out to me is when Denver bypassed Thurman Thomas. It was such a no brainer that if he fell that far Denver would grab him.
