out of the divisional teams i would say Oakland. League wide however, i would give it to Minnesota.

None of the above.
Can't give it to Oakland since they've lost 2 starters off an already bad D and gave up their Top 10 pick, even if it got them Moss. Moving back into the bottom of the 1st, while a good trade, doesn't make up for that. Denver's offseason is too much boom/bust, though the Skins 1st next year is gold. KC's been the only bidder for Surtain and can't get a deal done for him. SD- hasn't done anything |

Draft isn't even done yet. SD is so loaded for the draft they really did not need to go out and sign anyone. Oakland has manuvered into a #26 pick and an extra third rounder but may go out and grab the next Buchanon and Jolley. Moss is an impact player but Jordan is crap. KC has not had a good offseason since signing Holmes.
Our offseason still has so many questions attatched to it we wont know til after next years draft. |

This offseason we have a mixed record. We started out extremely poorly but we have made a series of moves that i think elevate the offseason into the "mixed bag" characterization. But its a C as it stands now. Better than a D- which we were at not long ago, in my estimation.

Until the Chiefs make the trade for Surtain, the Raiders.
I don't believe they will be any worse on D and they really made some great trades. They are going to be loaded in the first three rounds. San Diego has done nothing and the Broncos only improved their depth. |

I'd give Oakland the nod here in 05 so far but, SD can really load up in draft we will see.
I'd give Denver a C for this offseason. I love the trade we made but, it doesn't help til a yr from now. |

I'll vote when it is opening day, as of right now Raiders.
The Chiefs and Chargers are still out to lunch. I mean how painful is it to see Denver and OAK make this many GOOD moves and we are still waiting to see IF the chiefs are going to pony up something of value for a top flight CB. |

You forgot one more choice. Your mama.
Just kidding. I'd have to give it to the Faiders. Randy Moss was a great pick-up. |

I'd say SD. They haven't had to do anything. The Moss trade was awesome, but I don't know if that's a good thing for oakland two seasons from now when ****head gets comfortable in oaktown.

Part of it is contingent on how the Browns pan out here, and how each team's draft prospects pan out this year, but in terms of adressing needs, we win. Consider this:
1. We filled all our holes and needs before the draft. 2. While many teams wanted to trade out of the first, we managed to actually do it. 3. We have increased our picks in the rounds where they will be the best bang for our buck, AND increased our picks for next year in the process. 4. We managed our cap situation very well, and saved a little room for emergencies. Some will say Oakland b/c of Moss, but to me they seemed to take talent out of a mediocre D and funnel it into their O. I will say that they got more than they gave for it, and I think moving back to a 4-3 will really help their D, but they still have big holes they need to fill and no one in this draft is going to be able to fill those holes right away. So in terms of adressing need, providing depth, managing cap, and improving options for the future, we're the obvious choice. |

One thing you can say about this offseason for us is this. We improved the future of the team by getting more picks and we filled every hole but two punter and return man. In no way is this team worse then it was last year and we added youth to the team as well. I can't complain about the offseason.

I still think it is too early to be grading out the offseason, but with all the CBs that will be taken in the top 2 rounds I am thinking there will be a decent nickle type CB after june 1st cuts. If we land a decent guy for the nickle at that time, then yes we really will have filled all our holes.
Bob may just be trying to overlook the fact that Warren and Brown do in fact have talent and will both be playing for a payday. |

I can tell you who didn't have a good off season and that is the Raiders. Sure they got Moss but they made already bad defense even worse to get him. They will be like the Chiefs score 36, lose by 7.
Al Davis still thinks the Raiders play in the old AFL. He is was once a great owner(hate to say it but he was) now he is just plain crazy. |

In our division it is hard to call because of so many spots that were filled with underacheivers or players with bad injury problems. League is Minnisota. They have a nice def. coming togather and there off. isnt looking that bad. If they draft a replacement for moss (Williams or Edwards) then this team did about everything it could do.

Its Close between the Raiders and Broncos
The Broncos made IMO a great trade yesterday to increase their grade and its my personal belief that Ekuban will be just another Heyward/Berry for us along with either Warren or C. Brown paying off more than anyone could safely predict. Ian Gold was a hated resigning, but around the league most people just saw it as a solid addition to an already good LB corps. Ron Dayne is a wildcard. If he can be a Moe Williams/Leroy Hoard type of back for us in the redzone than it will be a great signing. We struggle on 3rd and 1's more than most teams. I don't want to get into it, but the Raiders have had a great offseason too. Randy Moss, Lamont Jordan, and their recent trades are all good moves. If they can get some good Defensive picks with their 1.2. and (2) 3rds it will be a good start for them. |

I would say the Broncos, simply because they filled more holes than the Raiders. One could make a case for the Raiders as well.

Addition by subtraction. I think we are having a GREAT offseason now that we've traded out of the first round while picking up a third. I like the signing of both Courtney Brown and Gerard Warren, though admit that they have a lot to prove.
I think the Raiders place close second, given the Moss deal. Mostly because it will take at least a season to determine if Moss is worth having or not. There's a reason why Minnesota got rid of the guy, and everybody who watches football is well aware of that reason. The fact that he's with a "downfield" organization speaks well for the fit though... Still, there are a lot of holes on the Raiders defense. The most perplexing offseason has got to be the Chiefs. They've signed a handful of roleplayers but act like they've made all these amazing moves that everyone should sit up and take notice of. I just don't see it, and expect another year of p***Yfoot defense in the plains. I know there's another team in the AFC West, but I can't seem to remember who they are. Something to do with electricity or some such... They must not be winning this month... |

It's a tossup between the Raidas and the Broncos. Everyone wonders (and I do, as well) how the ex-Brownies will do in Denver. However, I'll say this. By getting almost an entire line from another team, some of that chemistry on the line is bound to stay intact. I don't expect all those guys to start, but the fact that they already worked together is a very good beginning. With coaching, they may be able to play at a level Shanahan expects them to play.
Partly for that reason, I voted for the Broncos... ![]() |

On paper, I'd have to give an edge to the Raiders, although, in my mind the defense remains very suspect...especially at LB, but we'll see how the draft plays out.
Randy Moss, for all his warts, still can make it happen against anybody when he wants to...Team just has to, you know, get him in the mood To the Broncos credit, however, no one has been able to find anyone quite as stupid as Daniel Snyder, and Denver needs to mine that motherlode until the vein runs out...have to say, though, seems as though Oakland may've found a sugar daddy in Houston...good Lord, what an awful trade. Seems to me that the season will have to get underway to see if Denver's D-line transplant grows any fruit. If it does, seems to me that Denver comes out the white knight...in Denver anyway |
