Default OK... Who is going to watch the draft now?

As great as this trade is. I think I'll skip the first 3 hours of the draft.

I'm going to tape it cuz I have to cover a Western Michigan women's doubleheader softball games. I always watch the draft, regardless of where Denver drafts.

Me and my friends will be playing a pickup game of football outside, and check in periodically. I still have a nice Saturday off work, so its going to be fun.

Since I don't really care for the draft, know any of the players, etc, I'll wait for people to post what happens here.

I usually will check in on the first round, but never watch it after that... and since we're out of the first round, well yeah...

I was watching no matter what the Broncos did.

Based on today's events in Oakland, I'm definitely watching. With two seconds and two thirds, it is entirely plausible that Oakland makes a move in the later stages of round 1. It'll be interesting... plus, I like seeing where the players go anyway. Last year it came back to bite me, though, as I was telling my brother all day, "Man, I hope the Raiders take this kid Bernard Berrian in the third round! He's a steal there, I tell you!"

He's a Bears fan. They got him... in the third. Pissed me right off...

We all knew you were still going to watch it, study it, analyze it, masturbate to it and then come back in here and tell us all about what happened.

I agree that we need to prioritize defense and I think we will. That said, I really think that some of you guys here are SEVERELY overrating the kind of impact that losing Philip Buchanon will have on us. I honestly look at it as addition through subtraction. The guy was a bad cornerback. Yes, he made some highlight reels... the problem was that for every highlight reel he made, he gave up about six highlight reels to the guy he was allegedly covering.

That said, I know that it is about more than just Buchanon... but I also think that the Raiders won't be as bad as last season based on the facts that last year was the first year under Ryan and also the fact that last year's offense went 3 and out A LOT, never ran the ball, and turned the ball over a ton.

If the Raiders stay put where they're at, I'd ideally like to see them take on of the falling corners (Marlin Jackson) and either an OLB (Burnett, Blackstock) or one of the defensive 'tweeners' who can get after the passer in round 2. Grab a safety and either a running back (Shelton, Faison) or a guard (Komeaotu) in round 3. Go BPA on day two, grabbing a defensive tackle or two along the way.

We'll see. Can't wait.

Trading Phil was a very smart move for the Fade. I can't say that I ever remember being really impressed by the guy except for a handful of returns. The Raiders have some speed guys, and I wouldn't be surprised if Gabriel could be a good return man for them. A 2nd and 3rd is pretty decent value IMO for a player of his caliber. That said he is still young with some upside if he get's his head on straight.

As for Skins they will be a big ? mark this year. Their defense was very good last year, but their offense stunk and I don't see what exactly will make it any better this year. Their O-line is still a mess, and they still have big ?'s at QB. Draft picks might help, but its risky to rely on anyone besides their #9 overall to contribute immediately. As for the defense it looks like they lost this year with Smoot leaving, and there are now ?'s about Lavar's knee. I wouldn't be surprised at all to watch them finish in the bottom half of the league next year.

I can't wait until the Skins pick. Listening to the announcers will be like Santa telling us there's an extra Christmas next year. I have to watch my man Jamal Brimmer CB from UNLV jump onto the Broncos wagon in round 2 and compete this spring with his homie Sam Brandon.

I enjoy this NFL self indulgence...gorging on the publicity from an administrative function...granted, a pretty important administrative function, but one that passed through the media for a long, long time before anyone even took notice.

Now, it's an event

The intrigue, goofs, gaffs & blunders make it interesting t-v for a NFL fan...probably the closest most people will ever come to a day on the floor of the stock exchange

Heck yeah! The draft is almost like watching a game to me. Especially when the trades start happening or a team doesn't make it up to bat in time.
And you get to listen to the Philly and NY fans boo their teams when they make their selections.
