Just got back from the Hokies spring game(scrimmage). Great news! We won. Marcus Vick was looking decent with the second team receivers(one starter). They called a lot of bootlegs(two hand touch on the QB's) and he was slow with his decision making ability IMO. Other than that...the Hokies looked great on defense. Marcus is much more accurate than his brother with the same type of gun. He also has good touch on the ball.

I like going to the spring game every year, but it's very hard to figure out just how good the players actually are. The defense lets up quite a bit, so it's very difficult to see how the offense will click. It's a fun time, though. Kansas State's spring game is April 30th, and I'm looking forward to being there...

I agree....but I like being overly critical about it. The 1st and 2nd teams for ours were totally mixed and matched...so based on that alone you can't tell anything. Plus, it's open to the public....other teams can scout you if you run regular packages. |

I'll be at CUs game on Sat. Should be interesting watching it at the practice field. Folsom had a mold problem, and the recent snowstorm screwed up the seeding/sod so for safety it was moved to the practice field. Should be cozy.

Sad spring game at NDSU...to many guys hurt or sitting out because of Baseball or Track. Good note for us is the Backup qb looked decent, but got hurt in the 2nd quarter. Our first string D looked good. Our depeleted Oline looks much better than I thought it would. Over all it wasn't that great of a day and we have a lot of questions to answer before we start the fall. But the final was 10-9 or first string D over first string o

I like Ohio State way too much...
28 degree weather with snow, and my dumbass is sitting there in the Horseshoe watching a god damn scrimmage, it doesnt get much dumber than that. QB's didnt look to well, has a lot to do with the weather because they didnt get much help from their WR's dropping passes and slipping on routes. Troy Smith was the best of them, followed by Todd Boeckman, than Justin Zwick was dead last(he looked terrible.) RB's look great though, Antonio Pittman and Erik Haw both had a good game and I'm sure that they'll be splitting a lot of carries this year. But, it was the Ted Ginn show out there. Fans actually booed everytime the Gray team punted away from him, not giving him a chance to return. The first play for the scarlet was a WR reverse to him that he took for 16 yards, just electric. 19-6 was the final score, Gray prevailing over Scarlet in a sloppy, cold, rainy, snowy, windy day. |

There must not be anything better to do in Lincoln..
![]() FWIW, I heard that Iowa's stadium was being renovated, so no spring game for them. KSU usually draws 7-9k... |

It's an awesome recruiting tool though. NU coaches have to fight being in BFE and the weather, so things like this help. I guess that had over 100 recruits at the game including ~10 of the preseason top 100. DJ Jones, a top notch O-line prospect has already committed and QB Josh Freeman is "90% certain" he will commit in the next month or so...... things are looking good again for Nebraska recruiting. |

hey DF, so is Ginn going to stay permanently at WR or are they going to move him back to corner? I think what would be best, if he has the endurance, is to go both ways, like Gamble did. Gamble was an excellent athlete and ginn is better, it would be very good if he could go both ways. Only downside i think is that he prolly would not get a whole bunch of reps to improve on the detailed techniques at one position.

He was recruited as a CB, but we quickly found out just how much of a gamebreaker the guy was and made the move to WR to get him ther necessary touches, plsu we had a good group of CB's. Now that Dustin Fox is graduated, they're looking for someone to step up, it looks to be Ginn or Donte Whitner(who the coaches are contemplating on moving back to CB from the safety spot.) It's hard to tell what the coaches are doing this year, they had DB Devon Lyons playing WR in the spring game, so he may play there instead of in the secondary, Whitner may move to CB, Ginn is being worked in at both spots, Sirjo Welch got a lot of playing time at safety instead of Whitner, so who knows really. My guess is that he'll be doing all 3 for us, but I dont see him being the everydown starting CB like Gamble was for us this year, think we'll keep him focused on offense and returning punts while we have CB's that are capable of playing well, then in his junior year I see him being the full-time CB/WR/PR out there. |
