Default Hawks Mock V2

Tear it apart!

1 - SF 49ers, Aaron Rodgers, QB California
2 - MIA Dolphins, Ronnie Brown, RB Auburn
3 - CLE Browns, Derrick Johnson, OLB Texas
4 - CHI Bears, Braylon Edwards, WR Michigan
5 - TB Bucs, Carnell Williams, RB Auburn
6 - TEN Titans, Antrel Rolle, CB Miami
7 - MIN Vikings, Shawne Merriman, DE Maryland
8 - ARI Cardinals, Alex Smith, QB Utah
9 - WAS Redskins, Mike Williams, WR Southern California
10 - DET Lions, Alex Barron, OT Florida State
11 - DAL Cowboys, Marcus Spears, DE Louisiana State
12 - SD Chargers, Troy Williamson, WR South Carolina
13 - HOU Texans, Adam Jones, CB West Virginia
14 - CAR Panthers, Cedric Benson, RB Texas
15 - KC Chiefs, Carlos Rogers, CB Auburn
16 - NO Saints, Travis Johnson, DT Florida State
17 - CIN Bengals, Erasmus James, DE Wisconsin
18 - MIN Vikings, Mark Clayton, WR Oklahoma
19 - STL Rams, Jammal Brown, OT Oklahoma
20 - DAL Cowboys, DeMarcus Ware, OLB/DE Troy
21 - JAC Jaguars, David Pollack, DE Georgia
22 - BAL Ravens, Roddy White, WR Alabama-Birmingham
23 - SEA Seahawks, Dan Cody, DE Oklahoma
24 - GB Packers, Anttaj Hawthorne, DT, Wisconsin
25 - DEN Broncos, Fabian Washington, CB, Nebraska
26 - NY Jets, Heath Miller TE Virginia
27 - ATL Falcons, Shaun Cody, DT Southern California
28 - SD Chargers, Khalif Barnes, OT Washington
29 - IND Colts, Darryl Blackstock, OLB Virginia
30 - PIT Steelers, Justin Miller, CB Clemson
31 - PHI Eagles, Matt Jones, TE/WE, Arkansas
32 - NE Patriots, Marlin Jackson, CB/S, Michigan

I think Benson has fallen to the #3 RB and out of the top ten. With Foster shoulder and Davis getting up there in age he seems like a good fit and hard to pass up. The Vikes surprise a lot of people and take Merriman when Mike Williams is sitting on the board. After being a top five offense for the past few years and going nowhere and picking up a WR with their second pick.

Finally I don't want Denver to select a CB or Washington that's just the route I see them leaning towards.

If we take a 2nd rate corner while Heath Miller is on the board - well, my TV won't recover.

I'd see us taking Shaun Cody at that point...basically I'd be dissappointed if we took a corner since we have two left over from last years draft.

Right now we've got

Bailey
Walls
Middlebrooks
Alexander
Shoat
Leseaur

Alexander has the edge over the other two because he got tossed into the fire last year, and wasn't ready for the nickleback position. However, he'd be a good fourth cornerback.

Outside of that, I think you did well...

Personally, I don't see the RB's going so high because you've seen a general trend for teams to be taking RB's later in the first round. Last year Stephan Alexander, Chris Perry, and the chucklehead in Detroit we're all late round picks, while Stephan Alexander dropped like a rock. Nobody wants to pay out huge bucks to a player who is one knee injury away from no longer being on your roster or at least useless for the next year, especially if they are a year away. Also there is good depth in the runningback position and value till the third round.

i think that shanahan would take justin miller before fabian for the purpose of having a return man. a 2-in-1 pick so to speak.

otherwise a good mock, except i can not see smith falling thru the top 5

Am I the only one that looks at that list of players and doesn't get impressed? Middlebrooks is coming off a pretty bad knee injury as I understand it and Walls may end up with shoulder problems the rest of his career. Shoate is almost worthless and I still don't understand that pick. LeSueur I like for some reason and if I see Roc on the field again I will have flash backs and freak the F out. Help at this position would be great whoever it is.

I'd rather move up and get Carlos Rodgers. He's young and carries a big stick. I think he might just get close to 25.

Again.. I don't like Washington and would be very dissapointed if that happens. I just felt it was a Shannahan type pick.

Man I hate the idea of Washington, but it doesn't mean it won't happen.

I am okay with a DB, if the right guy falls -- Rogers for example. I could live with Pool, J Miller, or even Marlin Jackson.

I'd still prefer to go WR, OL, or DL (Mike Patterson).

Yep. All we're going to hear from Dove Valley is how the Broncos are going to grab a CB... right up until draft day when they select Khalif Barnes.

I have been beating the Barnes or Rodgers drum constantly...

Mock has made up his mind, so you can rest assured neither will be picked.
