My use of the word "volunteer" is meant in sarcasm.

Unless you really want to volunteer, in which case you just vote for yourself.

Whoever gets the most votes goes in.

Whoever gets the second most votes gets to watch.

Nope, you vote on who goes into the wreck. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? Given the nature of our contest you can be sure *something* will happen.

The round 1 votes were invalid and have been flushed.

See post #167 on page 7.

End of story.

Following the Chinese SWAT team raid and the untimely demise of international terrorist Denverfan4Life, dawn breaks to find our fearless party well on their way from the base camp to the foot of Mount Sausage when, to our wondrous eyes, what should appear, but …

That’s right … It looks like the ancient wreck of a flying saucer!

Oh, joy. Oh wonder of wonders.

The hatch has been dislodged. Anything could be in there.

Weapons!

Food!

Collector’s Items!

Secrets of the Universe!

Unspeakable Alien Monsters from Hell!

In view of this stunning discovery, we will have a brief pause in our efforts to kill off other members of the party. We must have our priorities, after all.

A volunteer is needed to enter the spaceship and explore its contents.

This round, each of you may PM me with the name of the party member who you are “volunteering” for this daunting task! As usual, any abstention will be considered a vote for yourself.

Votes are due by Noon, Monday.

After all the voting is tabulated, I will announce the identity of the volunteer.

I will then PM the volunteer with the details of his experience and discoveries inside the flying saucer.

He can then share that with all of you, or not. If he’s still alive.

And sane.

Now I know what some of you are thinking. This sounds really exciting, but also kind of dangerous. And if the volunteer doesn’t get killed in there, how will you know if he found anything valuable? Something that he’s withholding from the other party members?

Well, never fear.

The Runner-up in the volunteer voting will be sent to accompany the Volunteer to the lip of the saucer lid, and to stand just outside, so that he can observe, as well as he can, what goes on in there. And he will also be PMd by me, with what he sees happen in there.

So no funny business, now!

By the way, the hatch is pretty narrow, so whoever gets elected as the primary volunteer must cut away a Lifeline to get inside. Now we can’t honestly expect that anyone would want to cut away their own Lifeline in a task this dangerous, so he will instead get to cut away the Lifeline of whoever is using him to anchor their own.

So when you pick the stooge you want to send into the saucer, it might be a good idea to pick someone OTHER than the guy your Lifeline is anchored to …

YOUR VOTE IS DUE BY NOON, MONDAY.
Just so it doesn't get buried.

He was a banned user. The reason he was banned, according to the mods, had nothing to do with anything he did on this thread, but he wasn't supposed to be on the Mane to start with.

So his account was frozen. He's gone. Nothing I can do about it.

There was initially some question, according to the mods, about whether he was an alter ego for another one of you.

That has been cleared up to their satisfaction. He was not acting as an alter ego.

The rest of you are clear.

But this played hell with the whole web of Lifeline and contract assignments.

For example, if I reward the guys who had df4L as a contract target with "bullets" for killing him, that would be a windfall - - since they didn't really do it. On the other hand, if I don't, then they have been screwed out of their chance to win future bullets.

Likewise, it was a major screwjob for the guy who had his lifeline assigned to df4L. And, to a lesser extent, it was a screwjob for the guy to whom df4L has his Lifeline attached. (because you will rarely be targeted by the guy who has his Lifeline attached to you - - that person would not have had a de facto ally like everyone else)

So these things had to be completely redone or shifted around. As it happens, we were able to shift them around.

But this would have had a major impact on the voting dynamics in Round 1, which were very close.

So, I made the decision, pursuant to Rule #1, to declare df4L the first victim - preempting all other victims (since he wouldn't be able to participate anymore anyway).

And the voting for Round 1 has been voided.

So the net result is that it's like starting over again without df4L who, according to the mods, should not have been on the site in the first place.

Just a guess but judging from where he was located and that seemed to be true because of his love of "brewers" baseball Im thinking it was that wisconsinhomer or whatever his name was. I think he was the guy who got banned for telling Pez to do certain things to himself that normally only happen on survivor rofl

The sad thing is that it is so very true...and that nobody seems to care.

I don't know how many times where I have seen beuracratic BS cost millions of dollars.

For example: We recently had to purchase some...lets say hydraulic actuators for simplicity. Well we don't have a contract with the manufacturer so we have to a third party, well instead of getting them from the manufacturer they go to a fourth party.

The manufacturer originally sold the items for a contract of about 5 million. By the time the government paid for it we were charged 11.5 million. We were so desperate for the parts and bent over the barrel that we didn't even blink. That happens every damn day around here.
