On our chalk board that we use for the tailgates I think we're going to have to write down "Welcome To Mile High Park"

I am going at lunch today to pick up face paint, and I will bring it with me on OF1, so it will be at the tailgate.

Meck-
You have room on OF1 for the Keg? I dont think we can make it in there by 8am (thats 7 denver time...im not a morning person, esp if we party at kelly's) to get into arrowhead park, so we will probably just wait in line for the gates to open around 11, but maybe you could 'watch' the keg overnight and start it with b-fast? We leaving colo springs Sat around 9....if i dont get lost in Kansas, should be there in time for a table at kellys...maybe get you the keg then?

PS there better not be any beer left over for the baltimore game...help me out Bronco fans!!!!

You guys are in row 9 correct? I'm in row 26 in the same section. It's going to be fun watching you guys walk out with some sad faces and a long drive home.

Well 12th man...we already packed alot of beer man and I have somewhere around 12 people on the bus to the game and more on the way back. Not sure I want to take on a keg situation. The bus has keg capabilities (tap inside) but we never use it because for some dumb reason they don't allow them at Invesco. Not sure if the Chiefs even allow them?

I just kinda have my hands full with coordinating stuff to try and chase down a keg sat night. We might be able to make something work though. Did you already buy it?

Go Broncos!
Kelly's is the oldest tavern west of the missisippi. It's in the "Westport" area. The hippiest and coolest place to party in KC.

Thats cool, I'll bring it in my vehicle & try to park close...anyone know if there is a cash lot close to arrowhead park? Looking at the maps, it seems most of those are Gold or Red permit lots

You guys should come to the Chiefs Planet Tailgate. We are not far from Arrowhead park which sucks for tailgating. You guys need to get out of the boondocks of Arrowhead park and into the throng of Chief fans and have some fun.

For the first timers to Arrowhead.

It's only fitting the Bronco fans have an idea of what there potential playoff team is walking into.

- Denver Fan
"I have been to many NFL games throughout the past 20 years, and each time I return to Arrowhead, I become even more amazed at how loud their fans are. I am a Denver Broncos fan, but I would have to say that Kansas City's game day atmosphere is the best in all of the NFL."

- Texans Fan
“I personally don't know why this stadium isn't #1 right now. After talking to a Texans football player, he stated that this IS truly the loudest stadium in the NFL (Arrowhead)."

These are just a few of many quotes I have found from different people across the nation that aren't even Chiefs fans. I hope we can give them a little bit more insight to the subject. Enjoy.

- Why I think it is so bad ....... bad is not a good word man. I would say difficult to play in arrowhead? The simple answer is in the architecture, and of course the 78,000 screaming fans. I mean all 78,000 screaming .......... from 6 years olds all the way up to 90 year olds .......... all horse after a game for a day or two. The bowl effect of that stadium is the true gem in the whole scheme. All that screaming is at its loudest point on that field. Truly an architectural piece of sports art.
Mike Shanahan -

"I know people have tried to prepare me but until you actually experience it, you really don't know how loud it is. It is a fun experience. I remember in that playoff game, that 14-10 (playoff game in 1998) -- and this is before the game -- I'm talking three or four minutes before the game and I am trying to talk to my son (Kyle). He is standing right next to me, I'm yelling and he can't hear me. I am yelling at the top of my voice trying to get him to get something and he has no idea what I am saying. That is how loud it was."

Rod Smith -

"The first time I ever went in there it scared the hell out of me -- and that was just the national anthem," Smith remembered. "When they say, 'The home of the Chiefs' right there in the national anthem, I thought they were going to attack us. I thought 70,000 people were about to come out of the stands and get us."

Rodney Harrison -

"It's not the same as other places," said the Patriots' Rodney Harrison, who formerly was with the Chargers. "It's loud. It's the loudest I've ever played in. The fans are out there four hours before game time, probably tailgating. But it's a great atmosphere for football.

Tedy Bruschi -
"[Arrowhead] is the loudest outdoor stadium in the league. It's so loud you can't hear yourself think."

Jim Mora -
"It felt different in Kansas City. Kansas City's crowd is amazing and you felt it. You felt it. It's like I talk about our Dome...you want it to be a suffocating feeling. You felt that at Kansas City. At Denver yesterday...you just didn't feel it. You didn't feel the heat, you didn't feel the emotion, you didn't feel the crowd, so we didn't get worked up. We kind of just kept playing and we felt like our offense was moving the ball and they continued to move the ball, so we felt like we'd get back in it. And we did. But I think, honest to goodness, a lot of it has to do with the crowd. It's a big difference between Kansas City and Denver. Big difference. Big. Big difference between Kansas City and most places. We want to be talking about Atlanta like I'm talking about Kansas City and I think we're on our way.

- Just another observation from NFL football players about arrowhead.

KANSAS CITY, MO. - Billy Miller remembers the first time he thought Arrowhead Stadium was truly special.

A rookie tight end on the practice squad of the Denver Broncos, Miller made the trip to Kansas City with the rest of the team for a regular-season game in 1999. The coaching staff wanted the young players to get a feel for "playing in a hostile environment," and there aren't many places more intimidating and noisy than the 32-year-old home of the Chiefs.

Most of the details of the game have long since been forgotten. What Miller experienced during pre-game festivities hasn't.

It all began when the team charter bus arrived to find the stadium parking lot resembling a war zone from all the smoke billowing out from tailgaters. Later, as The Star-Spangled Banner was about to end, Miller recalls the nearly 80,000-strong "Sea of Red" screaming in unison, "Chiefs!" Finally, there was a loud roar and shake as a military jet flew over the stadium.

"I got chills," said Miller, now with the Texans. "It's one of the best home-field advantages in football."

Nowhere in the NFL is there a noisier crowd than the 79,451 fans who regularly fill Arrowhead Stadium. The Chiefs had the NFL's best home record (63-17) from 1990-99. They're 59-22 at home in the last decade, fourth only to Green Bay, Denver and San Francisco.

According to chefs website: ARROWHEAD PARK DIRECTIONS AND MAPS
Q: Where is it located in relation to Arrowhead Stadium?A: It’s located at the northwest corner of the Truman Sports Complex near Lot N.

Lot N is a cash lot, but it doesnt show up on any maps. We will try to get in there once it opens. See everyone Sat night/Sunday...

I posted this earlier.

If anyone is interested in parking ($20) and walking over to where OF1 is going to be let me know. Here's what we're doing. We get in line about 2 hours before the gate opens at the same place every year. We start partying in line. Everybody normally gets out of their cars, mingles around, and has a good time waiting for the gates to open. Once the gate opens we drive down to the South side of Kaufmann stadium and start our tailigating.

This year we're going to walk to where OF1 is and hang out with the Maners for awhile and then end up back up at our parking place. I've never hung out with any of them so this will be my first time meeting everyone. We're probably going to grill some food and eat before we head over there. There's going to be probably anywhere from 6-10 people in our group. I'm still not sure where the RV park is to where we'll be parking at, but it can't be far.

Anyway, if anyone is interested in meeting up with us and parking in the regular lot let me know. I can meet you somewhere in the morning and hook up with you. Also, we'll be down at Kelly's Saturday night after we leave the Ameristar Sports Bar. Kelly's is located down by the plaza and is basically an area of clubs, bars, comedy clubs, restaturants, etc. Once you park, everything is within walking distance. So you can leave one bar and walk to several others without ever driving.

I'm from the area and go to this game every year so I have some knowledge about the area and where things are. If you need help, give me a PM and I'll give you my cell #.

I still remember coming down the escalator at the Westin and looking down in to the lobby there is "DISCO" in full gear talking with Mike Shanahan.
" The bottom line in this sport is. "You get on that field and you WIN."

Met Shanahan in the lobby on my honeymoon. He shook hands with us both and said, "We won't dissappoint you today." The proceeded to kick the Chiefs ax in Shannon Sharpe's record setting game.
