Default Chiefs acquire DE in trade with Tenn.

KANSAS CITY, Missouri (Ticker) - The Kansas City Chiefs acquired restricted free agent defensive end Carlos Hall from the Tennessee Titans on Tuesday for an undisclosed draft pick in 2005.

Hall, 26, started 31 of 45 games in three seasons with the Titans. Last season, he recorded 41 tackles, 2 1/2 sacks and one fumble recovery.

In Kansas City, he will likely compete with Jared Allen for the starting right end spot.

A seventh-round pick out of Arkansas in 2002, Hall has 120 tackles, 13 sacks and seven pass deflections.

This guy is a good player. I don't know if he can beat out Jared Allen, but he gives them depth. I would assume they had to give up at least a 6th round pick for him or better. If they give up a 2nd for Surtain, they won't be doing much on draft day.

I won't homer up this one. He's nothing special, though he could be in a couple years. Solid signing for us, we need depth at DE.

Probably the best you could say about this guy is that Goonter has already worked with him in Tennessee...

I think it is a good signing for the Chiefs, personally. From what I understand, though, he's a bit one-dimensional and streaky.

Strictly an edge rusher with 13 career sacks and 120 tackles. Weak against the run.... Situational Player.

He's in the same class as Burress. A situational player with a whole bunch of potential. If Burress doesn't have the history of Injuries he's hands down better. His performance in the playoffs alone have me convinced until he proves otherwise.

Carlos Hall... Convince me... I'm open... what has he done?

Twice as many career sacks to begin with...

I live in Philly area, I see the Eagles play regularly. Derrick Burgess is garbage. The signing reeks of Larry Brown and Desmond Howard. He made a couple of nice open field tackles on Vick with Kearse (and an entire defensive gameplan) bringing the heat to flush him in that direction. Monte Kifflin wrote the book on Vick, chase him to his right and he can't do ****. All Burgess had to do was stand there and wait for him.

Add in the fact that he's made of glass, and Hall is infinitely superior.

i wouldnt worry about that too much Bill. I read the contract wasnt all that it was cracked up to be so far as the numbers are concerned.

The better question is what has Derrick Burgess done besides take up space on the trainers table?

I know that but when your as tight up against the cap as we are, I'll take the younger guy playing on a rookie deal with no injury history and superior production over Derrick Burgess and his rickety wheels.

They are both 260 pound speed rushers piss poor against the run. All things being equal give me Hall. For a 5th Yup.

Unless Woodson is dealt or locked up long term, we are up against the cap. Anyone making any appreciable amount of money has been cut or restructured already to fit Moss and Burgess in.

That still doesn't change the fact that Hall is the superior player.

If you're going off the strength of that Atlanta game, you've really been duped. Their starting RT had a high ankle sprain and the backup played most of the game.

Burgess is "fools gold".

I would think this lessens the Chief's interest in Pryce, verdad?

Let's talk about the atlanta game for a minute. It's not all about him sacking Michael Vick... He never got out of position when the Falcons tried to run to his side. He kept containment most of our guys are inconsistent when it comes to that. Brayton was getting good at it but, who knows if he hasn't regressed from the 3-4 experiment that went bad. The second thing is his ability to get away from offensive linemen and make tackles.

Sure he's injured but look at the year that he played every game.... 6 sacks 25 solo tackles 7 assists. Sure that was 2001 but, if you want to compare him that is the only full year he played

above you stated that you think that they're just about the same if not for the injuries.
