SSJ Mock Draft:
Round 1: 1. SF: Aaron Rodgers, QB, CAL (No QBs worthy of #1 overall in my book) 2. Miami: Ronnie Brown RB (No more RB worries) 3. Cleveland: Derrick Johnson, LB, Texas (Crennel has his playmaker) 4. Chicago: Mike Williams, WR, USC (Toss up between him and Edwards, but Chicago too chicken to take another Michigan WR this high) 5. TB Bucs: Carnell Cadillac Williams, RB, Auburn (Gruden loved him at the Senior Bowl) 6. Tennessee: Adam Pac Man Jones, CB, WV (Lost both starters, Pac Man will step right in) 7. Vikings: Braylon Edwards, WR, Michigan (May make Vikings fans forget about Randy Moss) 8. Arizona: Antrel Rolle, CB, Miami (Will start from Day 1 for Denny Green) 9. Washington: Carlos Rogers, CB, Auburn (Rogers will turn out to be better than the guy he is replacing…Fred Smoot) 10. Detroit: Erasmus James, DE, Wisconsin (If he can stay healthy will provide the Lions with the pass rush they need) 11. Dallas: Shawne Merriman, DE, Maryland (Cowboys get the guy they covet) 12. SD: Alex Barron, OT, FSU (Barron’s great workout moves him up to 12) 13. Houston: Khalif Barnes, OT, Washington (David Carr says “Thank You”) 14. Carolina: Heath Miller, TE, Virginia (Mangum not much of a weapon, he needs replaced) 15. Kansas City: Mark Clayton, WR, Oklahoma (Before you Chiefs fans boo too much, realize that I have them trading their second round pick for Patrick Surtain. Clayton is a perfect fit for this offense.) 16. New Orleans: Alex Smith, QB, Utah (More likely that someone trades up to get him, but I think he or Rodgers could slide depending on who SF takes) 17. Cinci: Travis Johnson, DT, FSU (Cinci gets the guy they want) 18. Minnesota: Elton Brown, G, Virginia (Guard is a position of need. Brown will start in 2005) 19. St. Louis: Jammal Brown, OT, Oklahoma (Turley is probably done.) 20. Dallas: Troy Williamson, WR, South Carolina (Will fit right in the mix with Keyshawn and Quincy Morgan.) 21. Jax: Marcus Spears, DE, LSU (Spears, Henderson, Stroud, and Hayward…that is tough) 22. Baltimore: Justin Miller, CB, Clemson (Will replace Gary Baxter) 23. Seattle: Shaun Cody, DT/DE, USC (Need help on the dline) 24. Green Bay: Thomas Davis, S, Georgia (Packers need safety and guard help very badly) 25. Denver: David Pollack, DE, Georgia (Broncos have a lot of work to do on the dline. Pollack is relentless and a playmaker, his output can be seen both qualitatively and quantitatively. Negative would be short arms.) 26. Jets: Cedric Benson, RB, Texas (Jets take Benson to groom behind Martin. Dropped in the same fashion that Steven Jackson did last year. 27. Atlanta: Anttaj Hawthorne, DT, Wisconsin (Will work right into the rotation) 28. SD: Dan Cody, DE, Oklahoma (He and Olshanski will give them a tough duo at the DE positions) 29. Colts: Mike Patterson, DT, USB (Dungy has his Warren Sapp type player he has needed) 30. Steelers: Reggie Brown, WR, Georgia (Randle-El is good, but is more of a slot WR. They need someone else to compliment Hines Ward.) 31. Eagles: Roddy White, WR, UAB (Mitchell and Pinkston not the answer opposite of T.O.) 32. Patriots: Channing Crowder, ILB, Florida (Will help to offset probable loss of Bruschi) Last edited by SouthStndJunkie; 03-27-2005 at 12:21 PM.. |

ROUND 2: (Note I have KC trading their second rounder for Patrick Surtain)
33. SF: Fabian Washington, CB, Nebraska (Rumph moving to safety, corner a need) 34. Cleveland: Jason Campbell, QB, Auburn (Savage and Crennel get their QB for the future) 35. Eagles: Kevin Burnett, LB, Tennessee (Lost some linebackers in free agency) 36. Tampa Bay: Brodney Pool, S, Oklahoma (Lost John Lynch and Dwight Smith the last two years) 37. Tennessee: Vincent Jackson, WR, Northern Colorado (Very intriguing prospect. Bennett, Calico, and Jackson will make a nice trio.) 38. Oakland: Odell Thurman, ILB, Georgia (ILB a huge need, Thurman should start all year.) 39. Chicago: Marcus Johnson, OG, Ole Miss (You can always count on finding very good guard prospects in Round 2) 40. New Orleans: Luis Castillo, DT, Northwestern (Castillo will be a solid addition to the interior of the line.) 41. Detroit: Matt Jones, WR/TE, Arkansas (I really like his potential. Former QB for Arkansas is over 6’6 and 240 pounds with sub 4.4 speed. He will be a weapon if he plays TE or WR.) 42. Dallas: Josh Bullocks, FS, Nebraska (Ball-hawking center fielder will allow Roy Williams to move over to SS) 43. Giants: Marlin Jackson, CB, Michigan (May play corner or S in the pros. I think he is a little overrated.) 44. Arizona: JJ Arrington, RB, Cal (Denny Green finds his starting back) 45. Carolina: Darryl Blackstock, OLB, Virginia (They could use another OLB to groom) 46. Miami (from KC): Adam Terry, OT, Syracuse (Good solid tackle..he may able to play LT in the pros) 47. Houston: Barrett Rudd, ILB, Nebraska (Foreman was released and Sharper wants out. Rudd will step right in.) 48. Bengals: Ernest Shazor, SS, Michigan (Ignore his 4.7 speed, Shazor will be a player in the NFL) 49. Vikings: Mike Nugent, K, Ohio State (Best college kicker I have ever seen.) 50. St. Louis: Demarcus Ware, DE, Troy State (Rams are really happy that Ware fell to them. Many see him as a first round prospect.) 51. Green Bay: Logan Mankins, OG, Fresno State (Pack almost took Frye to groom behind Favre, but they need G help in the worst way.) 52. Jax: Bryant McFadden, CB, FSU (Fills a position of need.) 53. Baltimore: Matt Roth, DE, Iowa (Another prospect that some see as a first rounder. Too good of a prospect for the Ravens to pass up.) 54. Seattle: Justin Tuck, DE, ND (Seattle took another dlineman, Shaun Cody in Round 1. These 2 picks will solidify their line for years to come.) 55. Buffalo: C.J. Mosley, DT, Missouri (Will help offset the loss of Pat Williams) 56. Denver: Charlie Frye, QB, Akron (Denver has needed a young prospect to groom for some time. In my opinion Frye could be the best QB of the draft. His measureables are nothing to write home about, but Frye is a gamer and has ‘it’. ) 57. Jets: Alex Smith. TE, Stanford (After losing out on Putzier, the Jets turn to Smith.) 58. Green Bay: Brandon Browner, CB, Oregon State (Pack was hoping Frye would fall to here. They get more secondary help instead.) 59. Atlanta: Jerome Mathis, WR, Hampton (Little known WR has been rising up the charts. 4.31 speed will be tough on the turf.) 60. Indi: Corey Webster, CB, LSU (Former WR is still learning the position.) 61. SD: Chris Henry, WR, West Virginia (6’4 200 pounds with 4.42 speed. Maturity is an issue though. SD needs a big target at WR.) 62. Steelers: Stanley Wilson, CB, Stanford (Last time we heard the name Stanley Wilson in the NFL was when the former Bengals RB was smoking crack in a hotel before the Super Bowl. His kid is a class act though and should be a solid addition.) 63. Eagles: Jonathan Babineaux, DT, Iowa (Eagles have a lot of picks and have the luxury of drafting BPA.) 64. Patriots: David Baas, G/C, Michigan (Pats need help on interior of their line. Belichick is ecstatic to see Baas at the end of Round 2.) Last edited by SouthStndJunkie; 03-27-2005 at 12:22 PM.. |

Round 3:
65. SF: Ciatrick Fason, RB, Florida (49ers were not happy with Barlow in 2004.) 66. St. Louis: Evan Mathis, G, Alabama (Mathis, along with Jammal Brown will really upgrade their oline.) 67. Cleveland: Eric Shelton, RB, Louisville (Savage loves big backs as he had J. Lewis in Baltimore. Shelton is 6’1 ½ and 246 pounds. 4.5 speed is great for a guy his size.) 68. Tennessee: Michael Munoz, OT, Tennessee (Munoz gets to continue his career in the same state where he played his college ball. Munoz is the son of HOF tackle Anthony Munoz.) 69. Oakland: Chris Canty, DE, Virginia (Raiders hope Canty can help get them pressure on the QB.) 70. Miami: Courtney Roby, WR, Indiana (Roby made a name for himself at the combine with his 4.33 speed.) 71. TB: Fred Gibson, WR, Georgia (Gibson is a good value pick here in Round 3) 72. Detroit: Chris Colmer, OT, NC State (With McDougle gone, the Lions need a prospect to groom at tackle.) 73. Houston: Donte Nicholson, SS, Oklahoma (A solid SS would really solidify the Texan’s secondary.) 74. Giants: Atiyyah Ellison, DT, Missouri (Potential and athletic ability to be pretty good player.) 75. Arizona: Eric Green, CB, Va Tech (Between Rolle and Green, corner should become a strength instead of the glaring weakness that was.) 76. Washington: Jovan Haye, DE, Vandy (Haye is a second round prospect that fell into the Skins lap in the middle of Round 3.) 77. Philly: Marion Barber, RB, Minnesota ( I like Barber a lot. The Eagles need a backup to Westbrook.) 78. Houston: Mark Bradley, WR, Oklahoma (A lot better player than his awful game against USC in the NC game.) 79. Carolina: Oshiomogho Atogwe, S, Stanford (May play FS or SS in the pros.) 80. Minnesota: Adrien McPherson, QB, FSU/Indiana AFL (Vikings take a chance on the kid despite his background. Would fit in their offense if Culpepper went down.) 81. St. Louis: Darrent Williams, CB, OKSU (Rams need depth at corner.) 82. New Orleans: Rian Wallace, LB, Temple (The Saints need help at LB.) 83. Cinci: Chris Spencer, C, Ole Miss (Need a center to groom behind Braham.) 84. Baltimore: Ben Wilkerson, C, LSU (Wilkerson has 1st round talent and only falls here because of knee injury suffered last year.) 85. Seattle: Kirk Morrison, ILB, SDSU (Seattle really concentrating on defense this draft.) 86. Buffalo: Joel Dreesen, TE, Colorado State (Dreesen and the Bills are a nice fit.) 87. Jax: Vernand Morency, RB, OKSU (Many thought he would go in Round 2. Fred Taylor is getting older and a prospect is needed.) 88. Jets: Wesley Britt, OT, Alabama (McKenzie was lost in FA.) 89. Green Bay: Andrew Walter, AB, Arizona State (The Pack finally gets a QB to groom behind Favre. Shoulder injury cost Walter a round or so in the draft.) 90. Atlanta: Michael Boley, LB, Southern Miss (The Falcons have some question marks at LB.) 91. Tampa Bay: Chris Kemoeatu, G, Utah (Solid guard prospect.) 92. Indi: Robert McCune, LB, Louisville (Very interesting kid. He will be 26, but was in Armed Forces before walking on to Louisville. Lifted rocks for weights when serving overseas.) 93. Steelers: Lance Mitchell, LB, Oklahoma (Will help offset the loss of Kendrell bell.) 94. Philly: Bill Swancutt, DE, Oregon State (Fell to 94 because of poor workout numbers. Kid has a great motor though.) 95. Arizona: Dan Buenning, G, Wisconsin (Lot’s of solid guards taken here in the third round.) COMP PICKS START HERE 96. Tennessee: Kay-Jay Harris, RB, West Virginia (Chris Brown is an injury waiting to happen and the Titans need a viable backup.) 97. Denver: Sione Pouha, DT, Utah (Denver finds a guy that they can try at NT. He is 6’3 3/8 and 325 pounds. He will be 26 next year. Good run stuffer and a guy with good character.) 98. Seattle: Terrence Murphy, WR, Texas A&M (Note to Murphy: catch the ball and they will love you in Seattle.) 99. KC: Lofa Tatupa, ILB, USC (Undersized at 6’0 238, but Al Wilson has done just fine at that size. Productive and fiery leader. Just what KC needs.) 100. NE: Ronald Bartell, CB, Howard (Belichick has a knack for finding the hidden gems.) 101. Denver: Craphonso Thorpe, WR, Florida State: (I consider Thorpe a steal here. If not for a broken leg in college (2003), he could have been a first rounder. Thorpe played all of last year and is getting his speed back. Ran a 4.40 at just under 6’1 and 190 pounds. ) Last edited by SouthStndJunkie; 03-27-2005 at 12:22 PM.. |

this is very impressive SSJ. Good reasoning at each pick. I dont think we would go QB at no. 2, but i have Frye ranked as the second best qb in this draft. This is very good. Rep.

I like all the Broncos picks with the exception of taking Charlie Frye with the 2nd rounder with David Baas still on the board.
Good job overall Junkman. ![]() |

For Denver:
25. Denver: David Pollack, DE, Georgia (Broncos have a lot of work to do on the dline. Pollack is relentless and a playmaker, his output can be seen both qualitatively and quantitatively. Negative would be short arms.) 56. Denver: Charlie Frye, QB, Akron (Denver has needed a young prospect to groom for some time. In my opinion Frye could be the best QB of the draft. I llike your draft but still hope the Broncos trade down in the first for more draft picks then draft Pollack or Ware. I would take Gause over Thorpe because Thorpe is a injury waiting to happen which is probally why he drops as far as he does. If the broncos trade down in the first then K j Harris would be a good propect to pick up in the late 3.

97. Denver: Sione Pouha, DT, Utah (Denver finds a guy that they can try at NT. He is 6’3 3/8 and 325 pounds. He will be 26 next year. Good run stuffer and a guy with good character.)
This pick would signify that we would be seriously trying to get into a 3-4. Not much lateral movement, but may be the best 2 gap NT in the draft. Great pick if we run the 3-4 awful if we drop that nonsense. Now is about the worse time to implement a 3-4. It was a great D to run a few years back because the majority of teams were running a 4-3 and "tweeners" were dropping and were late round gems. With everyone now copying the Pats, these guys are at a premium. I think Wabbit was talking about a conversation with Coyer and when asked about the 3-4 he said if you run the 3-4 then run the 3-4. I could not agree more. Do not like this switch up crap, as it is hard enough to find quality starters. Now we need to find an extra 4 quality starters for the 3-4? |

Broncos get two more Browns DL… There isn’t a move afoot yet to rename the team the Denver Browns, but the Broncos are on the verge of adding their 3rd and 4th former Cleveland defensive linemen when a deal that sees the Browns send Denver DE Ebenezer Ekuban and DT Michael Myers for RB Reuben Droughns is completed later today. Ekuban and Myers will join former Browns’ teammates Courtney Brown and Gerard Warren on the Broncos’ defensive front this year. The Broncos got Warren from the Browns in exchange for a 4th round pick at the 2005 draft and earlier this year and signed Brown, the oft-injured first player selected at the 2000 draft, earlier this month. They all have joined Broncos’ defensive line coach Andre Patterson, who had the same job in Cleveland last year, in Denver. Despite the makeover in their defensive front, the Broncos are still expected to look hard at defensive linemen in the upcoming draft. With the addition of Brown and Ekuban at DE, though, the Broncos may concentrate on DTs. Indeed, there have been rumblings that the Broncos might package veteran DE Trevor Pryce with the 25th pick overall in order to try and move up in the first round of this year’s draft in order to acquire either of DTs Travis Johnson of Florida State or Shaun Cody of Southern Cal. Also note that there in the early talk of the Browns-Broncos trade there had been some discussion that a conditional 2006 pick could be attached to the deal if Ekuban, who has had knee and shoulder problems of late, missed extensive playing time next fall. It is possible though that the inclusion of Myers may have precluded that part of the deal.

I dont think Oakland will go LB with the 2nd, I'd look for a pass rushing DE Tuck or Ware if either is there.
Canty is redundant to a team that already has Tyler Brayton, I'd think they'll be looking G,OLB, or DT in the 3rd. |

I know you do not think Moss is going to save you guys. You still have no running game, Lamont Jordan is crap as a starter, hell the Jets couldn't land a third for him last year when they shopped him. Your D is only rivaled by the Queefs. Collins is beginning to remind me of Bledsoe. Good luck getting 7 wins. |

Can't get past the Baas issue. Yesterday when I mentioned for the third or fourth time that he would be available if the Broncos traded down out of the first to one of the first picks in the second round to get him, many said I was crazy for thinking he would drop past 20-25. I still believe this because because all the recent mocks I have seen have him falling to the mid to upper 30s.
I have an impossible time believing, though, that 3 guards are going to get selected ahead of him and he will last to 64. Every ranking site I have seen has him as the #1 rated guard in the draft. Given the Broncos' need for a young guard, there is no way they let him slip by in Round 2 if by some miracle he is still there. |

Not true, we offered a 3rd and they wouldn't give him up last year. Guy has a 5 ypc average, not exactly crap. Going back to a 4-3 alignment alone should be good for dragging this unit up a couple of spots in ranking, either way I doubt we're picking top 10 again, probably more like 16 or so.
