Default Bronco News: Pryce to show up to Offseason Workout on Monday

Insider info, so no, I don't have a link...

Anthony Thomas was in Dove Valley yesterday/today. The Broncos have shown some interest in signing him.

Trevor Pryce was in the building Friday, and plans to be there Monday to start the offseason program.

Another player mentioned that Pryce is healthy, and that he's excited about the future. Comments like "if Pryce stays, the Broncos will have the best defense in the league."

A-train would be a good pick up. Hes been a starter and hes still pretty young.

A Train might be ok... I'll never doubt what Bobby Turner can do with a runningback.

ATrain could be a short yardage guy.

Pryce wants to be there. Unless the team tells him not to show up, he will be there.

And as I mentioned, the people that have seen him say that he is now healthy.

As I posted from another thread.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

An idea would be to offer him a little more money but tell him with this you must agree to play inside more. He is a better DT then a DE anyways. If he would agree to do that and take a little pay cut then that would be better for the team in the long run. If he would agree to trim up some for the rookies that would be great. Then we could work on a deal that maybe would send our first and Terry Pierce the Eagles for I don't know both of their second rounders. My projected dline roster before the draft would look like this:

DE's
Courtney Brown
Ebenezer Ekuban
Anton Palepoi
Marco Coleman

DT's
Trevor Pryce
Michael Myers
Gerard Warren
Monsanto Pope
Mario Fatafehi
Doresett Davis
Luther Ellis (just added him)

With the extra picks we could go something like
Baas
Vincent Jackson
Josh Bullocks
Bill Swancutt/Jovan Haye/ Atiyyah Ellison/ Santonio Thomas
Dustin Colquitt

Now there are other ways of going about it like not taking Bullocks and hoping Mariln Jackson falls to a comp third pick and making him a saftey. In place of Bullocks I would go Canty or Castillo. Either way we would be adding some talent to the secondary and the Dline.

Think about some of the rotations we could get if everyone is healthy.

DE Brown
DT Pryce
DT Warren
DE Ekuban

Now I think I would want something like that on passing downs though. Still you can move Pryce outside and rest Brown will moving in Myers or Fatafehi and even Luther if healthy.

We'll see how much he wants to be there by what he does with regards to his contract. But by showing up to the workout, it's a strong signal that he may be making concessions that will keep him in Denver. I don't think he'd be showing up if they were all that far apart on an agreement.

If he shows up to the workout, I'd be suprised if he's playing on any other team next year but the Broncos.

If anything happened to Bell there would be no doubt in my mind he could do for us what Rueb did.

Not really huge news, but good to hear.

Pryce has said all along that he'd be there for the offseason program if the team wanted him to be there.

Whether the potential release of Pryce is valid or not, it no doubt will make him even harder to trade (if that's possible.) Not sure any team would be willing to give up ANYthing if they thought they might get him w/out compensation.

It would not surprise me to see Pryce renegotiate and be back with the team. We went thru a similar melodrama before he signed his current contract. I think he just likes the attention and to be told how much he is needed.

A-Train for a minimal salary is certainly worth a shot. Doughins was nothing until he got to Denver.

The Broncos still have Holland too, i think. As for Pryce, i can't imagine how he doesn't get cut unless he agrees to some sort of salary reduction, either by doing a sign and trade or by just signing with the broncos for a flatout paycut with no more years added.

Holland was cut late last year and won't be back.

I don't think anyone really knows whats going to happen with Pryce. As far a the DL goes, normally the Broncs have had 4 DEs, and 5 DTs. total of 9 players. Look at the situation now. DTs, Warren, Fatafehi, Pope, Davis and L Ellis and Myers fighting for a job. DEs, Brown, Ekuban, Palepoi and Coleman. also Hunt in the chase. If Pryce stays, that would be 10 and he could play both ways as before. Keeping 10 means a cut somewhere else on the 53 man roster. As a rule there are 27 or 28 on defense, 23 or 24 on offense and 2 ST kickers. If you look at the present roster, you can easely see all 53 spots filled with what we have. Now comes the draft. Hopefully we will pick up a couple of players that will make the squad. A saftey, OL, RB or WR. And this doesn't even consider the players we sent to Europe. Then someone has to go. Pick and Choose carefully.

If Pryce is back in the locker room that is big news. If he is in off season training that is good news. He's forcing the Broncos to deal with him. I'm sure Shanahan is going to continue trying to deal him but it's going to be considerably harder if the guy is in your off season training program.

Exactly. I don't think people appreciate just how big of news it is.

Keep in mind, it hasn't happened yet, but I can say I've checked into this, and it's a credible report.

Why would working out make him harder to trade? All that shows is that he's healthy. If anything, it makes his trade value go up.

Also, why wouldn't he want to stick this year? I would too if I thought there was a chance I could get close to 9 million, even if I had to tie some to incentives.

A-train is nothing but a backup, but he might be worth more than Anderson.

I don't think you can really tell anything from this....it could be because he's going to stay...or show that he still/has more trade value.
