Warning: TJ or some other mod would have to be involved in this idea to archive the picks for two or three years. This is just a suggestion for some fun (depending on interest).
There are many at the OM who could be considered draft geeks. The slam that is always brought up against them is that they don't have access to the actual team value boards, but just the same draft services (and media reports) that everyone else has access to, so they couldn't do any better (and probably worse) than any GM or coach in the league. Shouldn't we test that out? How about this: The minute that Day One is over, OMers post their own picks (on this thread or elsewhere) for whatever position the Broncos draft at. In other words, if the Broncos trade down for more picks, you pick at that position. Of course, your only two options are to agree with the Bronco picks, or to choose a different player that was still on the board when the pick was made. After Day Two, do the same thing. The picks get archived (this is where the mod comes in) and in two or three years (during the week before the draft - which might mellow some of the tension around here) the thread gets dug out of archives and stuck to the top of the draft board. Then we all get to marvel at (or laugh at - as the case may be) the remarkably prescient picks made by our own OM draft geeks. And we could see if we could really do any better than Shanny & Co. At least then, nobody could say, "See? I told you that was the hot pick!" or "See? I told you that guy was a bust!" Nope. We'd have it in black and white. Who knows? Maybe it could become a tradition? Anyway. Just a thought. Discuss. |
