B-b-b-but, they're such good Christians... I...don't...understand (sniffle.) Heh. Surprise, surprise. NOT. Stories on Schiavo Protestor Miss One Point: He's a Registered Sex Offender NEW YORK As protests outside the hospice housing Terri Schiavo in her final days mounted last week, numerous newspaper reports, many based on an Associated Press account, mentioned or quoted 10-year-old Joshua Heldreth and/or his father, Scott Heldreth. Josh was one of several youngsters arrested for crossing police lines in Pinellas Park, Fla., in an effort to take water to Schiavo. None of the stories revealed that Scott Heldreth, a religious activist and anti-abortion crusader, is a registered sex offender in Florida-- until The Charlotte Observer mentioned it on Sunday. http://www.editorandpublisher.com/ea..._id=1000856102 |

It seems this Scott Heldreth story has struck some sort of nerve with our resident cursing Christian. He's worked himself into a state of advanced Jesus-based rage. ![]() ![]() |

Christian radio host arrested for child porn Agents with the FBI's Violent Crimes Task Force arrested a Christian radio station personality as part of a child pornography investigation. Bureau agents began investigating Chris Ruleman, 40, a midday host for WFFI, 94FM, earlier this week after receiving information that he possessed child pornography. He remained in the Nashville jail pending an appearance before a U.S. magistrate judge on Friday. WFFI general manager Mike Miller said Ruleman will not be on air while the investigation is ongoing. http://www.wsmv.com/global/story.asp?s=3096477& Quote:

Since I'm a "bleeding heart liberal" I'm going to make a quick statement on 2 things that sort of deal with this topic. I'm all for this guy turning his life around, unfortunately he's chosen a retarded path of religious idiocy that in the end due to his actions and influences cause more evil than his sex offenses...(could).
My statements: #1.) No one should have to register as a "sex offender". It's preposterous and a double whammy after you've already served your time or completed your conviction. It brands you for life and can range from nudity in public to serial sex slayings. So you're a felon, now a sex offender...we should have a drug offender's law...traffic "violators" registration...just so we can "assume" things about someone we don't know when we meet them. REE-DICK-U-LISS. #2.) Felon's should be allowed to vote. I can't for the life me think of how this law passed. Stripped of your right in this country to speak your political view, another double whammy on top of your jail/probation sentence. Obviously concocted by a Republican way of thinking, because most "convicted felons" are drug offenders under retarded drug laws who after the "system" has screwed them, they vow to make a difference...but wait! They can't! And 99.9% of their votes would go to the Democratic/Civil Liberty party at the time. Truly awesome scheme by the "conservatives" I must give them that...yet, no one seems to see how ridiculous it really is. And that's all. I don't know why you'd make another thread trying to "prove" christians are hypocrites...all you need to do is pick up your nearest bible and READ the damned thing to figure that one out. |

But, we do agree on the felon priciple. There's alot of crazyass laws these days that are "felonies" that should never, ever be...But then again..these laws are only as good as the people who make them. |

Original Topic; Who the hell cares? It's hard to point out the flaws of a particular group when you have Micheal Moore on your side.

Registering of true sex offenders is a good idea. The simple fact is that the rates of reoccurence among sex offenders is rather high. It sucks, but you should really avoid breaking the law in the first place. I do agree that the sex offenders lists have been taken to far. If a 21 year old has sex with a 17 year old they are branded sex offenders for life. A stripper (in Texas anyways) who gets caught performing 'public lewd acts' (lap dance) is registered as a sex offender. Being on that list carries a stigma that will follow someone around their whole lives. Attempting to use the registry as a means to enforce a moral agenda is both sick and wrong. Truly serious offenders (serial rapists and pedophiles) need to be monitored, but expanding the scope of those lists is just a sick thing to do really. |

I've got a better idea than registering serious sex offenders (this would exclude the lap dance girl and enforced on a case by case basis).....dead. Again, keep lowering the recidivism and that makes tracking them a whole lot easier. You could even put their crime on their headstone.

How is this even relevant to anything? I see your graphic about "Haterade," but note the irony that it's your hate that drives your politics... this thread being living proof... |

Two guys in one week - one a "Christian" activist who made the national news and the other a "Christian" radio host - both outed as molesters/pedophiles. The stories are "relevant" because it's people like these two men who have Bush and the GOP Congress in their back pockets (as evidenced by the Schiavo saga) and who want to determine the political future of America. IMO, anyone who isn't either angry or outraged about what Bush and the rest of the lunatic right-wing fringe are doing to our country is either asleep or under anesthesia. |
