Well... with us liking to run TWO TE sets, I think this is a good pickup. Carswell is going to be an LT next year or a car salesman. He won't be back at TE. That would leave us basically empty on depth.

Now we have Putz, Alexander who could be a dangerous 2nd TE in our offense, Hape, and Leach.

I think that's a pretty good pickup for you guys. He's a real solid tight end.

Alexander is not a solid Tight End...he's oft injured...ergo unreliable. He won't make the 53 man roster. Well...I should say...he wouldn't make it in a "normal" year.

You are kidding?

The guy is on his last legs...WTF are we doing using that much money on a backup TE when our D-line still sucks.

I always thought we were going after him in case they couldnt retain Putz, and now we sign him to 3 yrs and $4.2 million, sounds like another Jeb Weaver to me. I know he caught 41 passes (or something like that last season), but isnt that a lot of money for a number 2 TE?

Just be happy Jake restructured so we can fit this antiprobowl in under the cap.

Trading Putz, geez, now wouldnt that be something after they said he's an important part of the team's future.

Looking at his stats he's not a downfield threat at all. I would think Denver needs to keep Putz AND this guy. Just another good player to play down in the redzone.

Only 15 of his 41 catches came on third down. His one td came on third down as well. He isnt horrible but then again neither was Weaver.

Agreed! And he's fat too!

But someone one is definitely out the picture. And it doesn't make sense to trade the younger player for someone on the downside of his career.

Oops! Gotta check myself again.
