Denver to Play Bemidji State in NCAA Tournament
Pioneers and Beavers will battle at the Northeast Regional on Saturday, March 26

The University of Denver Pioneers (28-9-2) have earned their second consecutive berth in the NCAA Division I Men's Ice Hockey Championship. The defending NCAA champion Pioneers of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) will face the Bemidji State Beavers (23-12-1) of College Hockey America (CHA) at the Northeast Regional in Amherst, Mass., on Saturday, March 26 at 10 a.m. MT.
Denver, the No. 1 seed in the Northeast and second seed overall, finished the regular season as WCHA co-champions and captured the league's playoff title with a 1-0 win over in-state rival Colorado College last night at the WCHA Final Five in St. Paul, Minn. Bemidji State earned an automatic NCAA berth with its 3-0 win over Alabama-Huntsville at the CHA Tournament on March 15.
The winner of the Denver/Bemidji State game gets the winner of No. 2-seed New Hampshire (25-10-5) and No. 4-seed Harvard (21-9-3) on Sunday, March 27 at 10 a.m. MT. New Hampshire finished runner-up to Boston College at the HEA Tournament and earned an at-large berth. Harvard also earned an at-large tournament berth after placing second to Cornell at the ECACHL Tournament. The Wildcats and Crimson will play on Saturday, March 26 at 1:30 p.m. MT.
Denver is 3-0 all-time against Bemidji State, who is coached by Tom Serratore, the brother of former Pioneer head coach Frank Serratore.
