Default Jerry Glanville to coach..

Northern State in, Aberdeen South Dakota? I was just there staying with my brother for a week and the rumor was that Jerry Glanville was coming there to coach, plus a coach from the Buffalo Bills staff of present or former. This is just totally weird. Northern St. is a scrub Division II school. I could have played there this year. Aberdeen is also where Josh Heupel played his high school football.

Wow. Northern State is a tiny college in a tiny town.

Glanville is a hoot. I doubt he needs the paltry pay or the headaches. Northern State is barely a step above most high school teams.

Northern State's opponents better keep their eyes open for cheap shots next year. I always kind of viewed Glanville as a kookier version of Buddy ryan, Minus the innovation.

I wonder if Glanville will install the run and shoot?

South Dakota school has three other candidates
Associated Press

ABERDEEN, S.D. -- A former National Football League coach and candidate for the position of head football coach at Northern State University has withdrawn his application.

University officials said Jerry Glanville chose to accept another opportunity.

"We understand and support his withdrawal," said NSU Athletic Director Bob Olson. "We wish him the best of luck."

Glanville, former head coach of the Houston Oilers (now Tennessee Titans) and Atlanta Falcons, was one of four candidates who was interviewed for the head coaching position.

The other candidates are Paul McCord, special teams coach for the Buffalo Bills, Kyle Achterhoff, offensive coordinator at Northwestern College in Iowa, and Lance Leipold, assistant head coach and offensive coordinator at Nebraska-Omaha.

Former head coach Ken Heupel resigned in January.

This is not looking like any fun for me. I ref some Northern Sun games(the conference they are in). Some of the coaches in that conference are bad enough. The last thing we need is an NFL coach.
