Default Member Of Congress Calls for Nuking Syria

Call me out of touch with the heartland... where do these people come from?

Oh, and in a church gathering, no less.

Member Of Congress Calls for Nuking Syria

03/02/05 Washington, DC -- Rep. Sam Johnson (R-TX) has advocated for attacking Syria with nuclear weapons. Rep. Johnson was quoted telling a recent church gathering, "Syria is the problem. Syria is where those weapons of mass destruction are, in my view. You know, I can fly an F-15, put two nukes on 'em and I'll make one pass. We won't have to worry about Syria anymore." The American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) is outraged at Rep. Johnson's statement advocating for mass destruction and genocide and views this as a sad day in our country's tradition when an elected member of the United States Congress openly advocates for attacking another country with nuclear weapons.

ADC calls upon Rep. Johnson to provide an immediate and public explanation for his remarks. Additionally, ADC calls on the White House to publicly distance itself from such un-American views. In a letter faxed to Rep. Johnson today, former congresswoman Mary Rose Oakar, president of ADC, said, "While we recognize the current differences between the Bush Administration and the Syrian Government, these differences should be addressed in negotiations at the conference table, in coordination with our international partners, rather than confrontation in the battle field by using nuclear weapons," Oakar continued, "Advocating for genocide by nuclear attack against any country is completely unacceptable and contrary to our American values and traditions."

GOP Congressman Calls for Nuking Syria

http://partridge.gnn.tv/blogs/4360/N..._Texan_madness

In Washington, Republican Congressman Sam Johnson of Texas has recommended to President Bush that the U.S. consider attacking Syria with nuclear weapons. Johnson recently told a church gathering, “Syria is the problem. Syria is where those weapons of mass destruction are, in my view. You know, I can fly an F-15, put two nukes on ‘em and I’ll make one pass. We won’t have to worry about Syria anymore.”

Talk about divorced from reality – where the hell is Jeff-James D. Gannon-Guckert when you need him?

I just dont know what to say , Now Syria has WMD ? So we should Nukes on them ?
I doubt Syria has WMD , I realy do ....... And the Notion we should attack with Nukes is just plain stupid , and all those that voted this Idiot in to Congress should be in utter disgust right now ......
It obvious this Sam Johnson doesnt now what it feels like to be the Person to push the button that will cost Milions thier lives , and if he has concidered that , then his reguard for life is equal to that of a low life killer ....... But I am not suprised this guy is from Texas , and Texans voted for him .........

Indeed they should - just as they should be disgusted with GeeDubya
right now - but this would presuppose a conscience and/or rationality on their part.

True that.

His kind of chickenhawk rhetoric always plays well in the heart of the Bubbaverse.

Sadly, that's the cause for almost all Representatives, since both parties gerrymander districts to make districts virtually impregnable.

Re-election rates for incumbents back into the House would make totalitarians states proud.

After growing up in Dallas and graduating from Southern Methodist University, Johnson began his 29-year career in the U.S. Air Force, where he served as director of the Air Force Fighter Weapons School (Top Gun) and flew with the Air Force Thunderbirds precision flying demonstration team. In the Korean War, he flew F-86s in 62 combat missions.

In the Vietnam War, Johnson flew F-4s. While flying his 25th combat mission in 1966, he was shot down over North Vietnam. He spent nearly seven years as a prisoner of war, half of that time in solitary confinement. Fellow POW Capt. James Mulligan, USN (Ret.) recalled the day Johnson was allowed to return to a joint cell. He walked into the room with the two other detained American officers, "stood at attention with tears in his eyes, and said simply, 'Lieutenant Colonel Sam Johnson reporting for duty, sir'...after he had not talked to or directly been with an American for three full years." Johnson recounts the details of his POW experience in his autobiography, Captive Warriors.

A decorated war hero, Johnson was awarded two Silver Stars, two Legions of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, one Bronze Star with Valor, two Purple Hearts, four Air Medals, and three Outstanding Unit Awards.

Thus conceding that your prior assertion and insult of Mr. Johnson was baseless and unfounded. Well played again. Back to the minors.

Are you talking about the WMD documents that britian gave us, to use as 'evidence' to go to war? Or something stupid like nat'l guard documents that really have no weight or bearing upon events going on today?

How so?

I merely noted that Johnson used the same rhetoric we're used to hearing from the legions of chickenhawks who constitute your party.

And criticism of a whack job who called for nuking a country that has done nothing to us is "baseless and unfounded?"

Only to someone with your warped sense of morality.

Back on the short bus you go.

Your constant haranging on the chickenhawk issue and crux of your position has been that those arguing for war have never fought in a war. This individual has, and you get to go back to the minors. He gets to say these things, just like you get to lob around baseless accusations and innuendo. It's that first amendment thing, it applies to all. Not just you and your cronies.

And my position is correct on that account.

About 90% of the key players in Bush Inc. have never fought in a war.

There you go with the usual winger obfuscation again.

Who disputed his First Amendment rights?

That same "First Amendment Thing" guarantees my right to denounce his remarks as fascist and anti-American.

So much for another one of your "baseless accusations."

Every definition of chickenhawk uses lack of wartime service as a condition. THAT'S WHERE YOU SAID IT. You said it when you called him a chickenhawk. Then you backpeddle and attempt to clarify by saying, "I merely noted.." Take this note, YOU'RE BUSTED IN YOUR OWN BS. The first amendment thing was simply a reminder that the right applies to those other than yourself. You may take your exit.

Another distortion.

I didn't call him a chickenhawk.

Go back and read my original comment.

My reference was to the kind of rhetoric he was using (rhetoric which you so shamefully defend.)
