To double back now, and get virtually no value out of HIS mistake, shows weakness IMO. It's hard to be impressed with the direction we're moving.
well I think ppl were in despair after the season was done last year. a bunch of "stuff" happened(none of it actually leading to winning games), and everyone had their arm twisted to think everything was going to be awesome and now that its totally not awesome! ppl are not only whipping back to end of last year but a little below that. perfectly natural.

I dont buy the personell excuse one bit. There are areas that need improving, sure, but every team has that. There is plenty of talent on this team to get the job done week in and week out, but there is no god damn intensity and that falls back to the coaching.

That and no god damn push in the red zone is really starting to piss me off. THREE ****ING TIMES ON THE 1 YARD LINE AND WE SETTLE FOR 10 ****ING POINTS.

Even Belichick has a personnel guy - Scott Pioli.

They both happen to be great at what they do, but that's not the point. Having 2 people on the same page really works well.

On the other hand having a coach that disagrees about personnel with the personnel guy and/or owner is a bad scene.....that's what we had when Parcells was here.

Maybe Shanny could help pick his own personnell guy.

Got to love the mob psychology. Two weeks ago every one loved this team, now we ready to fire the coach and bring in Chucky. I did realize that the definition for Bronco fan meant that we were French.

Over half the board is ready to give up after one game, I not questioning anyone's passion for this team (that way everyone is so upset with the way they played yesterday), but I think people need to take a step back from the ledge. We have 15 games to go. and if we lose all 15 I will still support the team and coach.

bah its all perfectly normal, u cant evaluate a season after 1 game. but unless u invent a time machine I sure as hell am gna try!

=D, besides if the broncos do anything reasonably good it will swing back in the other direction.

Two weeks ago we were't embarrassed on opening Sunday by one of the dregs of the NFL. Denver didnt just lose, they got beaten.....badly. Make any excuse you want, but Shanny is as much to blame as anyone is.

Im not ready to fire the coach and bring in Chucky. I am however ready for a change. Our red zone has not improved, its gotten worse. Its not because of the skill positions, its because of the O-line and while they do great in zone blocking on draws and counters, they are horrendous and power blocking on the 1 yard line to get the back some sort of wedge to slip through. And guess what buddy, as long as Shanny is here, the O-line philosophy is not going to change. We are going to struggle mightily in the red zone until we get some god damn road grader's in there to run block.

I do not think the season is lost because I do not believe as a team, they will play THAT badly again, but the mere fact that they CAN play that BADLY makes me highly suspicious if we will in fact, win a playoff game this year.

Shanny is in charge of the chess game, the unit coaches are supposed to be the guys in charge of kicking ass. Obviously, the staff as a whole better decide whether they want to be chess coaches, or football coaches.

This describes the team perfectly--running in place. Every year, we have a slightly better than average team with absolutely no hope of advancing in the playoffs. No, I don't expect the team to go 4-12. But I would also be shocked by 11 wins. And that has been true year after year after year. This year will be the same--the Miami game doesn't foretell a collapse. The team will be just good enough to keep me interested and will suck just enough not to go anywhere interesting.

Shanahan has perfected a formula for the cap era that guarantees we won't be pathetic losers and also guarantees we will never win the Superbowl or an AFC championship.

BTW, 97 and 98 don't count vis-a-vis this point as those teams were built pre-cap. I'm talking about Shanahan's formula in the cap era.

What to do about it, I don't know. I suspect we are doomed to being just above mediocre as long as the current regime continues.
