Canadian Press 2/18/2005 HALIFAX (CP) - The Halifax Mooseheads announced Friday they will retire Colorado Avalanche forward Alex Tanguay's jersey in a special ceremony prior to their Feb. 25 game against the Drummondville Voltigeurs. Tanguay played three years in Halifax from 1996-1999, scoring 101 goals and adding 113 assists in 152 games. He went on to become the highest NHL draft pick produced by Halifax, going 12th overall to Colorado in 1998. "We are pleased to honour Alex Tanguay by retiring his jersey", said Halifax Mooseheads majority owner Bobby Smith. "He is a big part of the Mooseheads tradition and our fans as well as our organization take great pride in his NHL accomplishments." Tanguay has played five seasons in the NHL with the Avalanche, accumulating 108 goals and 214 assists in 379 games. |
